And Just Like That Solved Roaring Sound

I replaced both rear hubs, the roaring remained, replaced the differential, and it solved it, got both hubs off ebay for 250 got the differenntial for 150, so all in all not too much out of pocket, now to figure out where the coolant leak is, hope its not the head gasket

    Can not Remove Rear Differential

never mind, it was black sealant finally came out, doesn't look any different than the one i got on ebay except the one on ebay has a different nut on the pinion, so i guess its been changed or the bearing has, which is what i think is wrong with the old one since it wasn't the hubs roaring

Was Not the Wheel Bearings, Rear Diff?

ya i need to jack it back up and take the filler nut off and check, i looked around it there are no signs of it ever having any leaks, and I am almost totally positive it is coming from the rear

Was Not the Wheel Bearings, Rear Diff?

Changed out both rear wheel bearings, no change, still roaring like 747, goes away under acceleration, how hard is it to rebuild the rear diff?

    Wheel Bearing Roaring LIke 747

well after letting it sit all night i went out and hit it this morning with the impact gun and it popped off like it was a water bottle cap , guess it just needed to soak in that lube. Now if UPS will get me my used hub i got on ebay ill stuff it on and see if it still roars like an airplane

    Wheel Bearing Roaring LIke 747

can't get the axle hub nut off, damn thing is on there like crazy glue, can't keep the breaker bar and socket from slipping because of how much pressure I am putting on it, put some penetrating lube on it, gonna let it sit for a while then try again, wonder if I should get a torch and heat it up...

    Wheel Bearing Roaring LIke 747

the only way you can pull the wheels off and tell if a bearing is bad is if it had completely destroyed itself or has slop, which mine has neither, I will check the fluid in the rear diff and see how it looks thanks for the reply

    Wheel Bearing Roaring LIke 747

2002 HSE 4.6 95k miles, just bought it basically site unseen, drove to put some gas in it, and I think the rear wheel bearing is shot to hell, but the sound goes away when I am accelerating or turning hard left. Jacked it up no slop in any of the wheels, and spun the wheels and no sound, guess...
