Transmission taking too long to shift

Well, that would be contrary to how the TCM works on a jag. (Edit: Just consulted the workshop manual. A software reset IS necessary) A system reset will not affect the TCM. Those adaptations can only be reset with software. But delayed shifting is one of those indications that something is...

P0430 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2) - My car is running great

Firstly, 80,000 miles or 8 years. Did you buy it in September?? Run it into the dealer and find out. My dealer looks after me. Secondly, cats should last longer unless something is amiss. Find out the root cause OR be prepared to replace, the replacement. Cheers

Transmission taking too long to shift

That’s funny…. I interpret gear changes at 1500 - 2000 rpm as missing the power band and too early. https://www.automobile-catalog.com/curve/2016/2045480/land_rover_lr4_scv6.html#gsc.tab=0 https://ranwhenparked.net/what-rpm-should-you-shift/ But out of interest, I do change my diff...

    Head Unit stopped working

I would start with the easy path first (as described in the workshop manual) 1 verify the battery reads 12.6 v (when engine not running of course. 2 perform a reset. Disconnect battery wait 60 mins (or touch neg, pos leads together to dissipate capacitance) 3 reconnect the leads to the battery...

Nope. My vehicle does not lower in a 4 week period.

lowering suspension when not in use for weeks on end

If I’ve been out playing, I raise the suspension so that I can easily pressure wash underneath and, leave it elevated so that (in my mind) aids in drying. It may be parked for a week or longer like that.

    Touching Base

Equally, very sorry to hear. Best wishes for a positive outcome! @txfromwi , precisely right. Charge the battery before bed. Let it rest overnight. Take a reading in the morning. If the reading is 12.4v or less... time to look for a replacement. Do see...

    LR4 Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs)

Interesting... topix does not expose the vehicle bulletins, but if I search based on the ID, nhtsa.gov does. It seems the management at topix enjoys being unhelpful... and glad nhtsa wants to be.

    Keen location for FOB

Yes, but it rattles about in both those places… and they are not fit for purpose. Clearly an oversight. A checklist may have assisted the interior designers.

Third head gasket job- why are they failing?

FWIW, at 170,000 kms I’m on the original head gasket. OE is the way to go. There is sometimes a difference between OE and OEM… Cheers!

    Keen location for FOB

Why is it my ‘13 LR2 has this clever location for a FOB and my ‘15 LR4, doesn’t. Life’s little annoyances… Cheers All!

Bouncy Ride Normal? +engine cover part no. request

Though the ride is soft, he sticks like glue to the road, or trail. I run Pirelli Scorpion AT3. Have no interest is swapping out to coil overs.

Incidentally, there is an excellent Inde for all JLR products in Ottawa, named Shore Automotive. 1.5 hours from Montreal.

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

Summer time, I use the pirelli scorpion all terrain plus. In the event of air suspension failure, I can still drive with the 255/55 19s. Many talk about the need to upsize. I go into a lot of crazy places…. Bogs where mud and water are past the axles. Climbing wet granite. Very loose...

Do durable side wall tires exist for the LR4?

The Toyos are great tires. But there are a few good choices for the on road/off road category. Though I concur, I wouldn't run those tires even in a meadow. Some choose the LT path. I find the ride far too hard.

    Surprising oil usage

All I know is that The LR inde replaced my pcv valve and now the oil consumption is much less, lol. I was 1 qt every 5000 kms. Now I’m down to .25 qts.

    Surprising oil usage

Well, The morning reading is higher. I was parked on a reversed incline at the country property. The reading was down .5 qt. I rolled the vehicle forward to a level spot, (using the neutral release lever) and it gradually moved up to full. Then reset the lever, shut the ignition off, lock...
