Low Battery Warning while camping overnight....

@djkaosone that was a good tip that I got in response to my drive-in movie nightmare. Now the dome light off is my default. Seems I'm constantly opening and closing the thing or leaving the rear open. Most times, I don't need the interior lights and, when I do, it's easy enough to reactivate...

LR4 - Is there an equivalent in ride/driving experience?

My other choices would be a Dodge Durango RT or Grand Caravan. I also like the idea of a Toyota Sequoia. Truthfully, I wouldn't have a problem with a Toyota Highlander or even an AWD Sienna. I actually kind of like the look of the Lincoln Aviator. It's a 3-row, mid-sized, SUV, so that's...

Has anyone installed these defender style lights?

I like the way my stock lights look on the LR4. My problem is they won't adjust to illuminate the road straight ahead and parallel and they aren't very bright. After messing with them over a period of several days and getting nowhere, a member told me to forget it. He had been down the same...

    Trailer light question

I mentioned this issue when I went to the local trailer shop and they plugged in their pigtail testing unit into my 7-pin. The pigtail was about 10 feet long so he could go up to the controls by the driver's side door and test everything while he was reading the tester. He said "Everything...

Suspension failure warning- won’t raise out of access height

I had a lot of suspension issues and getting a cheap knockoff compressor solved them all. I've owned my LR4 since March. Lot of threads to search here on suspension issues. A guy might check those out to see if the answer has already been discussed. These kinds of problems and fixes seems to...

    Baja Rack for LR4

400 miles today. Didn't push it. 65 mph and lots of rest breaks. A/C on the entire time. Got passed a lot. Okay with that. Didn't want to be like the poor old guy I parked next to at the rest stop that dropped his transfer case. Return trip was pretty much the same. Made it round trip...

    Baja Rack for LR4

Headed out to Coeur D'Alene soon. Driving at night. It will be cooler and less traffic. Wish me luck. Will report back on how it went.

    Baja Rack for LR4

Here it is with luggage on top. By the way, the net was $25 and it fits perfectly. (Wally World).

    Baja Rack for LR4

Added a cargo net to my Baja standard full-sized roof rack. Really happy with how it turned out. Kind of a dream of mine to throw stuff up on top under a cargo net. My next move is to buy some Army/Navy surplus sea bags and stuff those with gear to toss on top. Getting ready for a long...

Trailer programming with GAP IID tool

I installed the same harness and brake controller a few weeks back. Took it to the local trailer shop and they plugged into it to test it. Said everything was working, including the brake controller. Don't have a GAP tool, but I could probably go to the local independent LR repair shop and...

Trailer Wiring Kit from Atlantic British

Sometimes it's the little things that bring the most satisfaction. The rear bumper area where I mounted my wiring plugs had a significant and noticeable coating of superficial rust. I taped off the surrounding area and trailer wiring connectors with blue painter's tape and extended the covered...

Roof Rack Wind Noise Help !

I was asked about wind noise on my recently installed Baja standard full-sized rack. At 50 mph and under, there is absolutely no noise that I can tell. When I listen closely at speeds above 50 mph and at freeway speeds, I can hear a faint "white noise" sound. As I mentioned elsewhere, the...

'11 LR4 lower contol arm drama...

@djkaosone Thanks, that's a relief. Not hearing any noise particularly, but the ride feels pretty stiff over road imperfections. Perhaps the poly bushings would explain that. If so, I'm fine with it. Just wasn't sure what a "normal" ride should feel like.

'11 LR4 lower contol arm drama...

@ktm525 Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac 37 psi (front and back) 19" wheels. I think I'm probably good. This is what I could see from the outside in off-road height (Lt and Rt). I believe those orange parts indicate that the front control arms aren't original. Looking at the condition of them...

'11 LR4 lower contol arm drama...

How do you know if your lower front control arms are going out? I understand it is a common problem. I haven't heard anything major. No crunching or cracking sound. The only thing I've noticed recently is the suspension doesn't absorb minor road imperfections very well, expansion cracks...

    Happy Father's Day!

To all you fathers out there, have a great day! If nothing else, your LR4 is your "baby". Hope it treats you well on your special day. Let us know if you got to do anything fun together.

Trailer Wiring Kit from Atlantic British

Took the LR4 to the local trailer place and they did a system check. They plugged into the 7-pin and everything seems to be working as intended, including the brake controller. Seemed like the perfect time to check out a used travel trailer. Went and saw what looked on Craigslist to be a nice...

    Air Suspension Performance

@Longtrail It's like the best man at my wedding said, "I've got some good news and some bad news." "The good news is your bride is beautiful, absolutely stunning." "The bad news is she will never look this good again."

    Air Suspension Performance

I looked at the LR4 and realized there is nothing left to do. Everything is working on it. No faults. Roof rack. Wired for towing with a brake controller. It's clean and straight. Maybe it's time to sell.

    Air Suspension Performance

I know. I wasn't there when they removed the seat and found the key fob, but I doubt they vacuumed up those crumbs either. My sense of relief was indescribable when I learned they found the key fob. You can't imagine what a PITA it would have been to get the situation sorted if they weren't...

    Air Suspension Performance

Okay, been playing around with the new cheapo "Hitachi-style" compressor. It's louder, for sure. Seems to be engaged and running longer as well. But it does eventually shut off. Occasionally, I will hear an aggressive burst of air being released. Seems like it happens when it is making...

    Air Suspension Performance

Key found. He had to pull the driver's seat and it was tucked way up into the rails. Eddie is a good guy and is willing to work on my LR4 without making a big deal about it and at a reasonable rate. Turns out it was his shop hand that didn't follow protocol. Normally they would keep the key...

    Air Suspension Performance

Helpful info @f1racer328 . After having slept on it a bit, I'm going to make him find it. I'm not going to lose an expensive key fob due to his carelessness. I can wait a day or two if that's what it takes. It will be good for him too. There has to be a meaningful consequence for practices...
