I've been paying more attention when driving down my street and can confirm that my LR4 will hold 2nd at 20mph and not upshift to third. Ends up in the 1500-2k rpm range. I'd venture yours is doing the same and that is normal. -

My LR4 holds gears going downhill nicely, allowing some amount of engine braking. I've also seen it hold a gear going uphill at what I consider fairly light throttle. How hilly is it where you usually drive, compared to Montreal? -

I dream of getting the full underbody armor kit from Prospeed. Unfortunately that's not in the cards, and I plan on getting the Tactical 4x4 rock sliders which provide compressor protection. [Edit to update reference to Tactical 4x4 rock sliders, not Terra Firma] -

Spend an extra $40 and get the solid metal lugs of Amazon? I got the Eisen brand ones and they've worked well. Or pick up the gorilla ones from summit racing but they're much more expensive. -

The fact that things started going badly when you hit bumps seems to me to point to a loose connection somewhere. Perhaps internally to the battery? Did you by chance check voltage at the battery terminals when the issue arose? -

Falken AT3W and AT4W do not come in a 19 as far as I can tell (neither Discount Tire nor Tire Rack carry them in 19s). GoodYear have one in the OEM 19" size. I went with the Toyo because I could go from the stock 55 to a 60 profile. -

I have the Toyo Open Country AT3 and have been happy with them. For sure better than the Nokian 4-season street tires I had before. Is there a chance those tires are the original ones? My spare had the original tire, so when I switched to the AT3 I got a set of 5 tires. I got the 255/60R19... -

Is "front outlet pipe" the front crossover? I had the coolant system refreshed (front and rear cross overs, hoses between water pump and crossovers, water pump) done on my v8 for ~$1500, so if the 3800 includes those things, then I'd guess you're doing OK. If you're paying to have access... -

Why not make something that goes down the evacuation tube under the oil cap? Make it rigid enough that it won't just bend into the oil pan when it gets down there. Judging by the effectiveness of oil evacuation, I'd wager it ends pretty darn close to the bottom of the oil pan, so some trimmer... -

If you bolt plywood down the you should make sure that you leave some way to access the spare tire winch. -

Surprising oil usage
1/2 quart in 80 miles is a ton and should leave a trace, you'd be bone dry in 700 miles. I do my oil changes every 5k miles, easier to remember, plus I rotate the tires then too. Last change I noticed I only extracted a bit under 7 liters, less than usual. Next time I'll get new pcv valves... -

I did something similar, immediately shut the engine off and checked underneath for leaks/damage - nothing but a dent in the skidplate from what it looked like, however later on when I removed it I did notice the frame cross member has a slight dent in it. Changing from Low to high and vise-versa while moving?
I think the system will make sure you don't damage the transfer case while changing from lo to hi, my guess is the risk is that you might take your eyes off the trail to actuate the button, and that you might need power to avoid something but are stuck in N - to that end, being fully stopped is... -
