    2013 LR4 Suspension Compressor

I got a genuine Hitachi compressor from Amazon for $480. Genuine AMK seems to be a bit more. Install was straight forward, though tedious. You will need jack stands to keep the car up if the suspension loses pressure since you'll be working underneath. You need to determine which compressor...

    Highest mileage LR4?

There's also a lot of satisfaction to be had in knowing how things work, and that you can indeed be competent at doing the maintenance. The caveat is it's useful to have a backup in case your repair takes longer than anticipated because you're learning.

    Control arm fail

They are also torqued to a ridiculous level, which can make getting them loose difficult if your clearance is limited (i.e. you're on jackstands)

    2005 LR4 Key newbie

I've replaced the battery in my keyfob without issue several times, for whatever that's worth. Our LR4 came with just one key, and the indy shop had trouble programming things and wanted to throw parts at it, but the dealer got it sorted without issue. Getting an extra key from the dealer will...

    Control arm fail

Uppers don't take nearly the load of the lowers, which is why they last so much longer. Is labor in addition to the 4x priced parts, or is that the total cost including labor? If labor is in addition, ask if you can supply the parts. There is no reason they need to mark up the parts...

    2014 LR4 Leaking Coolant

Pop the hood and have a look - with that amount of coolant it should be straight forward to see what's wet and what's not.

    Highest mileage LR4?

If you're looking at the telluride, you might want to consider the Hyundai palisade, same platform but leans posher, with rear air springs.

    Front propshaft / driveshaft replacement

It's really worth the time looking for the workshop manual if you don't have it, lots of good information in it. I found copies in somebody's Google drive or OneDrive, I think linked from this site but maybe it was another enthusiast site. I think you can pay for a one day subscription and...

    Front propshaft / driveshaft replacement

There's a section in the workshop manual that describes the sequence and torques and so forth. The shaft seems to be telescoping, so you undo the CV joints at either end, compress to release from the diff, then remove from the transfer case. The transmission cross member is documented as...

    Batteries

I believe all the 12v sockets are powered for 3 minutes after you turn the engine off, then power down automatically. You have to jump through hoops to make them stay on.

    Which would you rather?

For me, it would depend on options, specifically whether it had the HD package (with the 2-speed transfer case and locking differentials). Like others said though, a pre-purchase inspection by a reputable shop is a must for all of them. I went through a few candidates before getting our LR4...

    Batteries

I've been thinking of setting up an Anderson connector from the battery to somewhere near the grill, so I can hook up my compressor without having to pop the hood. Could also be used to hook up a battery charger or tender. I still dream of getting a hood mounted solar panel to keep things...

    Highest mileage LR4?

Knowledge is power? I'm aware it's expensive, I understand that I had to do a lot off preventative maintenance given it's age, and I think it's totally worth it. It's in tip top shape now, and should remain that way for a good while given how little it gets driven.

    Highest mileage LR4?

I'm at $0.26/mi for maintenance, $0.29/mi for gas, $0.13/mi for insurance, and $0.02/mi for registration. So $0.70/mi all up, ignoring purchase price and depreciation. I only recently started doing my own work on it, though, so expect the costs to go down over time going forward.

    Highest mileage LR4?

The $10k LR4 would need the same amount of work you've put into your rig, again, if you're thinking of just swapping rigs each time service is due. If you have the ability to ship things for cheap, places like FCPEuro that let you return used oil make oil changes super cheap (I think my last...

Low tire pressure indicator light didn't shut off

My 18v LXT kit works great, and my little chainsaw takes two batteries in series. They make a charger that works off of 12vdc, too, so suitable for taking along backcountry (along with the little chainsaw)

I'd expect the hook used for the jack would work fine, does it not?

Low tire pressure indicator light didn't shut off

I believe the newer models have the eye hook style, and I heard it was to prevent garage monkeys from using their impact wrenches to make quick work of raising the spare.

You could get the necessary tools for less to crack it open. Granted you might still need to replace once you see the carnage inside.

Low tire pressure indicator light didn't shut off

I've used a cheaper kit with 'normal' handles, and it was terrible. I have the ARB speedy seal kit, it has T-handles which lets you apply a lot more force. Batteries on TPMS sensors are not replaceable, they are a sealed unit. When I got the toyo AT3, the spare was still the same original...

Low tire pressure indicator light didn't shut off

The light will light up for the spare, too. It's pretty tough to get the insertion tool through the tire casing. My kit comes with a reaming tool and a bit of lube that you're supposed to apply before trying to insert the patch. My TMPS light came on when I was aired down (as expected) but...

    Increased Performance

The sliders I have my eye on are the tactical 4x4 ones, heavy and expensive though. Some of the prospeed stuff is super fancy, like their under belly and rear diff armor, but I suspect the market for the lr4 is drying up.

    maintenance history since new 2013

The U-joint can seize up in the lower steering shaft. Just had to do that, it's not too hard, some of the access it pretty tight so getting things torqued can be challenging.
