so my question is why not just deal with the tires you have for now. truly "save" the 1400 because it's huge waste of money if you have no intention of using up most of the mileage on a new but short term cheap tire. also, you're talking about montana and portland, where are you located, BC?

yeah he was saying while saves the money up, not somehow paying that much less. i read it too quickly at first too.

Highly unlikely any of those are load rated to the heavy lr4. Usually 'cheap' becomes expensive at some point in time. You are trying to save, what, maybe a few hundred $? Unless it's the 18's you can find on this and other LR enthusiast sites, they will not fit and/or are not engineered for...

Your thoughts on these LR4 rims/wheels?

Well look at that, we have the same taste in bikes. I have the last oil head 2013 r1200 GSA

no, that was due to a section way too tight on a very twisting and deep cut trail.

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

My build thread on exped portal is the best list of what's been done to it. Some of the less sexy wiring is the most practical and enjoyed through the years. I've basically never "used" the ARB bar but I use the wiring and other things camping all the time. Hell I use the ARB fridge, and thus...

tahuya didn't have anything like that as i recall but the dry photos are Naches just after historic sign and the muddy ones are after getting through a black rated Evans Creek. The wet photo is pre-strut spacer and the dry is post spacer. The far east end of Naches has some fairly rocky...

Their wheels are cast to have more clearance. Very little of the equation is the offset or you could simply put a 10mm spacer and call it good with an lr3 wheel. I think your phone made a typo - you should proofread ;) "bringing calipers" ... assume you meant grinding ? Yeah, we all went...

    Snow Chains

the 275/65 is too tall and too wide I bet. The reason the folks here are making RUDs work is that they're on a stock 19" size which is so much shorter it's down in the area of the UCA where there's plenty of clearance. Cables might work but would probably knick the UCA on a 32" tire.

Only 18? You're barely getting started. Anyway, you won't be passing me in a snowstorm LOL ...note avatar 7" wide wheel. FYI, I paid less for a set of lr3 18's last year including shipping. The bmw wheels are fine.

I missed that the rods came w the lr. But you're wasting every dollar on an alignment when you don't need rods on 19" wheels. Don't be a tool. You aren't driving down 36" deep snow lanes either. A snow bank or brief super dry fresh pow maybe. And to go where? To where it becomes 40" where...

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

I'd bet a case of microbrew he simply doesn't want to worry/deal with the air struts. The coil deal actually reduces maximum clearances and also reduces articulations. It becomes a stiffer car-like event off road IMO. They're not terrible, but the cross linked air is engineered to seriously...

Nice. re-read my post. Sure hope you'll never try to fit a 325 or 295 width on an lr4. Zero body hacking....try reading before attacking someone who's trying to help you. 32" does require flattening a metal flange....big deal. You cannot see any of the small mods that all of us have done to...

ok, so that $1400, add to it the cost of alignment and rods, now you have about 1700? Spacers and cheap lr3 wheels and you're off. You don't need iidtool unless you plan to screw w stuff. If you get an 18", you can fit a little bigger tire like 31.5. Generally 18's are cheaper tires than...

Total BS. and I don't mean you are BS or what you did, just that the idea of needing rods is BS. The rods only emptied yur pocket. They did nothing to help the ground clearance. You can get same height without them. To other people, spend the $ on iidtool, not dumb rods for height. Rods...

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

Struts ideally do not lose enough air overnight to notice. If the dash ever says something about it, then it's more than a slow leak. Between that and nothing, it's actually hard to know how slow or at all seeing as they do things that cause the compressor to come on even when perfectly new...

1-I've never heard of that tire but also true it could be just fine. However, who wins all the baja races....? I run Nokian for winter, BFG for dirt and Michelin for highway which is probably the weakest one of all and that's saying something IMO. I've heard the MS2 will crack the rubber...
