Making a case for the D5
Nicely stated! The D5 might be a magic carpet offroad but to my eyes it looks absurd in a trail situation. Just inappropriate. It looks perfectly fine in a suburban driveway. I’m glad I have an LR4 and won’t get a D5 for that reason. There is a fundamental disharmony in the D5. -

Is the LR4 good for daily highway travel?
I’ve got a 2016 LR4 with 26k on it. I get between 15 and 21 mpg, measured. The 21 is on the Maine turnpike where it’s flat and fast. We love the car. It’s terrific to drive even in dense NYC traffic. Overheating after coolant crossover replacement
Holy cow! How many of these vehicles are on the road and what’s a reasonable market penetration estimate? Really doesn’t look good. I suspect most would be willing to pay $200 retail for peace of mind. Unfortunately I don’t think it works. Frank -

2012 LR4 Slow interface screen
Hmmm... my 16 has always had fast camera-on/offuntil about a month ago. Now the rear camera takes a long time to turn on and at least 5 sec to turn off when I go into drive. Very noticeable Frank -

Dim Center Instrument Display
Well, after an hour or so I turned it back on and everything works ok now. If I block the ambient light to the turn signal indicators the dash lights and nav dims. I would love to make them brighter permanently. Old eyes, ya know. -

Supposing your numbers are right. You’re paying 16k to get out of a car loan that at 1.8% is virtually free money. Look at your loan papers. What is the total amount of interest you’ll pay by the time the loan is paid off? If it’s less than 16k you are really shooting yourself in your bankbook... -

I only used ATT as an example. There are many very conservative stocks/mutual/ETFs that have good yields. But keep in mind that 1.8% is very cheap money. Interest rates are going up and you’ll not likely ever get a loan at that rate again. The only way you’re gonna come out of a trade with a... -

If your interest is 1.8% you can take the 36k and buy ATT (T) and get about 6.5% dividend yield.
