How fast MPH can you shift into 4L?
I was having a progressive problem where at first there was a slight bit of resistance felt driving when dropping into 4LO at about 8 MPH, next few times the problem reproduces only then I relate the binding/resistance to the shift change. Land Rover LR4 H7 to H8 Battery Upgrade DIY
The H8 looks like a good upgrade. Has anyone mounted a charger? I was thinking about mounting an 60A 12V AGM charger next to the ABS unit in the accessory space and mount the 120V lead outside the box somewhere easy. Then run + and - wires across to the battery.- powershift

URGENT HELP
Buy the parts you need from the mechanic. It will cost a little extra because they charge a percentage of the part or a flat rate but with that you get their backing if anything goes wrong (assuming they act with integrity). Those benefits could be handling incorrect parts and/or defective...- powershift

Trying to finish 5.0 timing job, engine not rotating smoothly
Corrosion probably dropped down on top of the pistons and fell between the piston and cylinder wall and on top of the rings while cleaning it. I would have left it or removed the heads and cleaned the corrosion off on a bench because now there is potential for premature ring seal failure later...- powershift

It sounds like there is a hole in a diaphragm and air is pushing out of it. How many miles on it? I haven't done my PCV's yet at 119k mi.. Not sure if I need them replaced.- powershift

Do you use your ebrake a lot? How many miles was it when it started screeching? I hope mine doesn't fail, on my last car it failed and it was hard to deal with too. I only use the ebrake when I'm on a steep incline so that I don't bind the parking pin, but maybe I should use the parking pin more...- powershift

If you are looking at the block. A lot of the parts are the same. To me they are quite different one being boosted, smaller, better MPG, less power and different problems where there is a variance.- powershift

I took a peak at my engine and then paid someone to do it since I was in an apartment along with other things so I'm not sure of the procedure. There is a service manual available and the procedure is probably in there. The heads look pretty big on the 5.0L and the engine bay isn't that wide...- powershift

I saw blue smoke out the drivers fender at the end of the off-ramp after driving in 4th when I first got the rig and the problem was the valve cover gasket. If you keep the R's down it leaks less.- powershift

Coolant Smell After Driving and Temperature Gauge Reading
In the manual for D4 Workshop Manual 2011 online .pdf in the section where the removal procedure calls out the Viscous Coupling Wrench and Viscous Coupling Holding Tools in the Engine Cooling 5.0 V8L Petrol section, it doesn't say the removal is reverse threaded. My rear rotors wouldn't come off with the star wheel backed all the way off and I think its because the EPB shoes are stuck in the drum of the rotor. Just guessing that is the problem, but I beat on the rotor with a nail hammer and pulled on it with a screw driver in the vein at the same time...- powershift

Replacing spare tire jack?
I finally picked a jack to replace the factory scissor jack. Its a Norco brand out of So Cal made in Japan drop shipped for $120. Their end users are mechanic shops so they their gear is designed for frequent commercial use. It fits in the factory jack position, but I need to tie it off better...- powershift

What Did You Do To Your LR Today?
Dig it. I could stuff a Lifepo4 pack in that area on mine. It looks like maybe a seat bracket could be used to mount it securely. WA has beautiful country, pretty amazing how it has so many interesting places for an outdoors enthusiast.- powershift

Coolant Issue driving me crazy
Did you drop the skid plate and inspect underneath? If its leaking from the rear xover, on mine it leaked down onto the bell housing and then transmission. If you use Land Rover coolant, with a black light there will be more visible evidence of a coolant leak.- powershift

I'd re-assemble and fire it up if you haven't already. There is going to be resistance rotating the cams against the valve springs. There are a lot of springs one for each valve so that is 32? If you had the heads off and it was like that then that would be sus.- powershift

Resolving door squeaks?
There is a new squeak when I shut the door and in the pic lower RHS it shows the squeak point where its been abrasive. Both drivers and passengers side rub there. I was thinking about applying some kind of lube but wanted to see what others use. Has anyone treated noise in that area?- powershift

I took an orbital buffer to the clear coat haze that I had growing on the paint in a couple spots as well as the entire truck using a light abrasive rubbing compound with no fillers. It took the haze off the bumper completely, all the spider webbing and wipe marks from washing were rubbed off...- powershift

Hard, jarring, harsh ride over holes and road imperfections
Aside from stiffness, there have been failures of 3rd party LCA. You want the Land Rover brand or the company that makes them for Land Rover. Thats what I bought for mine (the latter).
