Tried to get my suspension fixed

Do you tell them to keep it running while they align it, or is putting it in tight tolerance mode before they drive it onto the rack good enough?

Tried to get my suspension fixed

FCPEuro will sell OEM stuff, not sure if they have the OEM LCAs. They warranty them for life though, so if you like the plush ride of the stock bushings, it'll effectively cost you shipping and an alignment to swap them every 50k miles.

    Removing rear seats?

Note that the luggage cover thing (leaning against your tailgate in your 2nd picture) clips into the gap behind the 2nd row. There are two little black plastic studs that stick out on either side, that clip into slots on the back of the luggage cover. That way it's not sliding around. Pretty...

    2011 LR4 gearbox/transmission

Mine doesn't start in second unless I put it in snow/gravel mode, and then it does start in 2nd. I was offroading once and hadn't put it in 4lo, and had to go up a bit of a steep bank to get around a downed tree - it wouldn't go up due to being in 2nd, the torque converter was just letting...

    Removing rear seats?

The 2nd row can push down more. After you flip the seat backs down, there's a pull strap at the front of the seat cushion that you can pull to allow the seats the collapse, giving a flat load space. The luggage cover clips into the gap between the 2nd and 3rd row, on the black buttons on the...

Help! My LR4 Needs a New Engine & I Need Your Input

not to be all "well, actually", but wouldn't it make a tiny bit more power from those extra 3 CI? :D

Question about Suspension Faults and Blowing out the lines

Compressor is a lot easier to change than struts, no? If you have it on hand you could swap it in and see? When you rebuilt your valve blocks, did you put any lube on the o-rings? I cleaned out my front one, didn't end up using the o-ring kit I got because they seemed like the wrong size. I...

Question about Suspension Faults and Blowing out the lines

Super interesting that a low tire would lead to codes. Is the car extending the suspension to compensate and that's why it's getting angry?

    LR4 Owner Considering Disco 2

I've never had any issue keeping up with traffic, doesn't feel like it's really working hard at it, even in the 80-90 range.

Any DIY tips out there on replacing a 2016 LR4 SCV6 Thermostat Housing?

Also AB have an Amazon storefront that sometimes has lower prices and free shipping compared with their own website. That's how I got my lower steering shaft replacement.

What kind of leak is this?

Be careful getting under the car without jack stands, a suspension malfunction would drop it down to bump stops right on top of you.

    Brake Controllers & LR4

I got the RedArc controller, and it tucks in behind the lower panel under the steering wheel. There's a rectangular cutout to the left side of it that is a perfect size to hold it securely. Completely out of sight, except for the control button which for now is velcro-taped to the steering...

    19” tires

If you're packing an air pump then you can run the spare deflated and that will help it fit. Definitely a tight fit with the 255/60/19 Toyo AT3 inflated.

    DIY Cargo/Sleeping platform

I plan on something similar, except I will remove the 2nd row seats and try to get as much off my storage done up front and down low. I like being able to sit up in bed. I like you aluminum extrusion setup though, nice work!

Help! LR4 Stuck Deep in the Woods

From the workshop manual I have on hand, it says "DIN standard cylinder numbering" but the diagram doesn't clearly indicate where the front is. The legend references 'A' but the diagram shows 'B', a bit dodgy. Another diagram in the manual says that bank 1 is on the right side, which would...

What kind of leak is this?

It's our occasional vehicle, but when we do take it, it's often well off the beaten path. Other than expensive preventative maintenance, our 2012 has been surprisingly reliable (knock on wood). Perhaps the LR reputation set the bar quite low. If you're on top of maintenance, I don't see why...

What kind of leak is this?

Yeah, of it's your primary mode of transportation and you don't have a good place to work, or tools, then you're probably better off having it done. I had mine done and if I recall correctly it was in the $1.2-1.5k range. The timing chain work I've heard is $5-7k (mine has it done before I...

What kind of leak is this?

If it were me I would try tackling the job myself, but I grossly undervalue my time, an am overly optimistic about how long things will take me. Refresh the entire cooling system like @txfromwi mentioned, maybe do plugs while you're there too. Since you'll have the cooling system drained, pull...

Nuts & Bolts... and Screws (basically fasteners)

For stuff like airbox screws, the material they're made of is likely not that important. For things that are structurally important, there'll usually be a LR part number and you can buy the real deal.

Question about Suspension Faults and Blowing out the lines

I would think if you disconnected the supply lines at all the air springs, you could hook a household compressor to the inlet of the central valve block to pressurize the system, then use your IID Tool to open all the valves and purge the lines. The only thing I would recommend if you're using...

    Intermittent heavy steering

Pulled the lower shaft out today and can confirm the U-joint is seized on one axis, but fine on the other. Tried to clean it and spray it down with WD40 but it didn't really help. Ordered a new one from Atlantic British's Amazon store, but will need a new lower shaft lower bolt, the one with...

    Indy Shop Over-Charging?

I am going to see how the fcpeuro return policy is (and also what shipping costs), but may switch to Costco oil too if I can find the 5w20. If doing 5k OCI, brand of oil doesn't matter as long as it's synthetic?

    Indy Shop Over-Charging?

The oil change seems in the right ballpark to me. Buying just the oil/filter kit from FCPEuro is $130 for my V8, Atlantic British have a kit for the scv6 that is closer to $180. When I was having mine done at the indy shop, it was closer to $200. As far as paying to setup the tow settings, if...

    Intermittent heavy steering

I have 'lumpy' steering now too, with the car not wanting to go back to straight on its own. I suspect the U-Joint, as the symptoms seem to align. If I remove it from the car to inspect (and possibly spray lube), can the bolts that clamp the U-joint to the steering rack be reused?
