    DIY Oil Change for LR4

Should be ok, although I'm not familiar with it, and BITOG has no info on the 5W-20: https://www.eurol.com/es/shop/products/E100072-e100072-1/473 There are some misc BITOG threads discussing Eurol, a Dutch company: https://www.google.com/search?q=eurol+site%3Abobistheoilguy.com

    OEM Waterpump vs British Atlanta/ProFlow

You are correct. OE / Genuine means parts sold by a dealership, branded as LandRover. OEM may or may not be the same thing. OEM means it's the same manufacturer that produces the OE part, sometimes with the JLR or FoMoCo logo ground off. However, these could be items that failed to meet...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

    Here's another option for a low-torque 1/4" wrench, the TEKTON mode TRQ21101 is rated 1.1-16.9 Nm: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M12284X/

You may want to go back and read post #'s 267-270 (click link below). I'd try the aftermarket Lubelocker gasket linked in #270: https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/lr4-transmission-fluid-change-pan-swap-option.28828/post-246856

2015 LR4 battery maintainer for 6 month storage

I like the PulseTech Xtreme Charge because it has full-time desulfation, which conditions and extends battery life. I'm averaging around 10-12 years lifespan (with AGM), and had a couple make it to 18-20 years (far longer than expected)! :driver:

    Testing air suspension for leaks?

Arnott had a good reputation for quite a long time, along with lifetime warranty. That is no longer the case... now is a 2-year warranty from date of purchase, only for original purchaser. And, the complaints are starting to ramp up again, it seems something has changed with their components or...

2015 LR4 battery maintainer for 6 month storage

I don't know if the 2 batteries are isolated... but, a "splitter" can be used to allow 1 charger / maintainer to work with multiple separate batteries. Splitters as shown below isolate each battery so it won't matter if they are different types / sizes / chemistries. I use the PulseTech Xtreme...

Engine oil analysis results on 2010 LR4 V8

Latest analysis report is attached below. I had intended to change sooner than 11kmi, but didn't have time over the winter. I also had planned to switch to a different (less expensive) oil, however I got a deal (translation: 2022 pricing) on the same Red Line 5W-20 that I had been using, so the...

    Lr4 Brakes

We've owned our 2010 LR4 for about 7 years and I've not experienced any brake squeal, in temperatures between below zero Farenheit, to over 100°F. We have Ferodo aftermarket front pads and unknown rears (still 50% left, haven't replaced them yet). It's silent both forward and reverse, wet or...

    Lr4 Brakes

MicroCat is super confusing (to me) for the rear brakes. Seems like there are several different part numbers across various chassis break points. And, MicroCat won't accept my VIN to pinpoint which part number matches my chassis number. I assume since my chassis is AA546xxx that I don't select...

    Lr4 Brakes

I have a set of Ferodo rear pads that I bought a few years ago, waiting for the existing rear pads to wear out. I just opened the box and they look like your lower pad. I have Ferodo FDB4105. See photo below. However, I am seeing other Ferodo pads which are shaped like your "top" pad. Now I'm...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Most filler pumps include a selection of adapter tubes. If you don't have a pump, you'll need to buy one, or fabricate something. I have the Extoil unit shown below, there are others with a similar design. Pretty sure I used adapter tube #43 or #43...

    Help! Its Smoking!

Glad you got it sorted out. Nope, makes no sense to me. The level sensor is an ultrasonic device, IIRC, submersed in the sump. Did the electronic "dipstick" in the instrument cluster not show the oil level was low? Or was there simply no warning light / warning message about low oil, unless...

Front brake pads on 2013LR4 funny looking weight?

I've only used Ferodo (OEM) so far, and only had to install one set of front pads. It needs rotors though, we've had a slight vibration since buying in early 2017 but it hasn't been bad enough to replace everything - yet. Sweet! We are coming up on the 7th anniversary, on Feb-1, 2017... 111kmi...

Front brake pads on 2013LR4 funny looking weight?

Ryan, what color / part number EBC pads are you using? And yes, the cylinder on the OE/dealer and OEM/Ferodo pads is a weight that is a vibration damper.

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

ATF should likely be replaced every 30kmi or so, since it's not possible to fully drain the transmission (not sure if "flush" machines can do this via the cooler pipes). Filter probably at 50k-75k intervals, maybe? This will vary with usage, i.e. towing or offroading, vs lots of highway miles...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

@itsaguything : The steel pan allows changing the filter without removing the chassis crossmember, saving a ton of work. I haven't heard of leaks with the steel pan, but there's an aftermarket gasket discussed earlier in this thread that appears more robust than the stock gasket (or...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

I believe the ports are different levels. The port on the side of the transmission should be higher than the port on the pan with the stand pipe attached. Exactly! This is what I was trying to say in previous posts. I agree, and am curious what ZF has to say.

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Use the fill port in the transmission housing. This eliminates all variables and will result in the correct fluid level for the Land Rover application, regardless of any difference in pan volume. The only question that would remain is if for some reason you really, really want to fill and set...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Ryan is correct. Unless there is a plastic pipe connected above the pan fill/drain port, it's unpossible to fill this way. Mercedes pans can fill from the pan but they use the plastic pipe design, where ZF uses the transmission housing side-port design. :stupido2:

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Can you measure the depth of the plastic pan, and the steel pan? That should confirm if there is a volume difference, although calculating the exact amount will be difficult. The factory fill-to-spill method at a precise temp (40°C?) will result in the correct fluid level, regardless of pan...
