    Persistent P0430 on my 2012 5.0

You can try new O2 sensors on the relevant bank. Should probably replace them with the new cat anyhow. Toss 3 new sensors in and if it goes away, win. If not swap them over to the new cat.

    Bullet Proof Control Arm Bushings

Going to admit that I was a little slow digesting why someone would need a bushing that can withstand a direct hit from a rifle round.

    Radiator replacement

Temperature sensors. Uro makes an aluminum replacement for the connector between the oil cooler and the water pump. I just got a nissens, but I don't have a motor, so I can't vouch for it. I put a nissens in my 240 Volvo wagon a couple years ago, been fine.

Door seam (inner driver) rust? 2016 LR4.

Drain hole on the bad door clear? If you pry the window gasket back a bit and pour some water in does it flow out? I wouldn't have thought of this without the pictures

Going a little further down that slippery slope, ordering upper control arms. I've got access to the bolts the rest of you could only have nightmares about.

New long block and supercharger shipped yesterday, should be here in a week. I'll see what I want to order for new bolt ons and sensors when it gets here. I'm thinking new cam solenoids and sensors is wise. First new parts day today. New radiator and new (reman) alternator. Thought about a...

I think it's time to move on...

First gen cayenne could be had with a proper transfer case and a locking or limited slip rear diff. Could be had with a diesel too. Making that choice would also require the clown putting on the make-up meme.

I ordered a remanufactured motor yesterday. There should be a support group for people like us.

Cylinder 3 Video That I can push down on cylinder 3 is bad. That it makes an audible clunk is very bad.

    Check engine light on

Honestly I'd probably let the dealership plug it in and scan.

    Quote for AC compressor R&R

Only bumping/ posting here because I just freed my AC compressor from the block. I had very little in the way and that bolt on the back is a royal pain.

Do you know if you had those codes before you did the cooling system upgrade? I would guess something is not plugged in.

    Valve cover gasket replacement ($3,200)

I have heard of some challenges removing injectors from these 3.0 and 5.0 motors. With that kind of mileage I'd replace the plugs, coils, and injectors if you don't know their history.

TBD on the engine. Once it is out I'll probably do a mild tear down to see what actually is the problem and go from there. Getting it rebuilt only makes sense if I can find someone local who's willing to do the work. While the bumper is off and the engine is out, what else should I replace...

My wife likes the LR4 enough and thinks highly of my abilities so I'm attempting an engine removal in the driveway. Current status is that the front clip has been removed. Fan, radiator, and trans cooler are out. Batteries and battery boxes are out. The AC condenser is still in place, plan...

So at just under 104k miles I've had a rod bearing stop doing it's job. Admittedly the vehicles been driven less than 10 miles in this condition. I've only had it for 18 months and less than 10k miles. Two oil changes have been done in that time, last one 1,200 miles ago. With the obvious...

    Noise? Rod Knock

So that's what it sounds like when a rod bearing gives up in a SCV6. Drained the oil, it looked fine. Cut open the filter and I was getting glitter everywhere.

    Noise? Rod Knock

Brief update on my own diagnostic work. I had a pending code for general misfire (p0300) and misfire on cylinder 3 (p0303). Pulled the plugs from that bank and stuck the camera in there. No obvious signs of the piston and valves giving each other a high-five. Did a compression test on that...
