I got the Terra Firma steelies for quite a deal. Defender steelies were around twice the cost. I didn't come across the tuffant ones, what I'm seeing they were pretty pricey as well.- scapistron

Put my LR4 back in it's native state, on jack stands in the driveway. I really want to run 18" steel wheels, but don't love the idea of spacers. thought I saw somewhere that the LR3 front brake caliper bracket (SEH500013) is a direct fit, so for $100 I ordered one. It does indeed fit...- scapistron

I'd be very concerned about purchasing something known to be sensitive to overheating with an active coolant leak driven by a teenager or young adult. Teenagers and young adults do very dumb things, speaking from experience.- scapistron

Transmission replacement on jack stands?
I was on jack stands, it is doable. Nice thing about jack stands is you can get in from the side. A lot of the stuff that gets disconnected for this job is supposed to be put back in with new hardware. Torque converter, front and rear drive shaft. Went through this myself last summer. 21k actually seems a little low, unless they have a salvage motor in mind instead of a reman. I paid about 19k and I did all the labor myself in the driveway. Reman long block, supercharger, all new gaskets, high pressure fuel pumps, solenoids, sensors...- scapistron

ZF can make a very good transmission. The old 6 speed and the 8 speed are solid units. That 9 speed that got put in all the transverse engine crossovers is utter garbage though.- scapistron
