    DIY Oil Change for LR4

Yep. Torque it up. Everything has a standard or recommended torque, from a Phillips screw (I know it sounds stupid) all the way to propeller nut on an oil tanker. But I think the danger with the filter cap is over torquing, then inducing extra circumferential stress on a plastic part. I’m in...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Sounds like you’re 90% caveman on this. Give the drain plug the last 10% and call it a day if it’s already deformed. At least then you’ll know you have 2 new plugs to go in.

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Not tackled this myself yet. But I was under the impression that it was a 10mm allen socket not a 8mm torqs socket that you needed to use. You shouldn’t need any tape on a correct sized tool unless it’s already been damaged. Has someone else done a fluid change to your knowledge? Yep and...

V8 Coolant Manifold / Crossover & Maintenance Parts List

I’m in the same boat, have a leaking water pump and noisy supercharger coupling. So it’s all getting done in one big job. Parts on order. I’ll be filming it all as well to get probably a 3-5 part video series going as well for the community. Stu.

    LR4 Hand brake Fault

"In the dynamic apply mode, if the vehicle speed is more than 10 km/h (6.25 mph) when the parking brake switch is selected to apply, the parking brake module requests the ABS (anti-lock brake system) module to activate the disc brakes on all four wheels. When the vehicle comes to a standstill...

    Gross Vehicle Mass increase? Reinforcements?

It’s a great idea, https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.motortrend.com/news/stealthy-land-rover-discovery-4-armoured-protect-diplomats-20355/amp/ the armored version is good at almost 4 tonnes apparently, so someone has done the calculations. I seem to remember reading about the brakes being...

Looking for a 19" off road tire.

It was very tight but it got in there. For anyone interested, just drove 200 miles on them and there is a slight hum at 85plus. But apart from that they’re pretty quiet.

Looking for a 19" off road tire.

Just installed the 60 profile Toyo at3’s on factory 19” rims 255/60/19, and they ride great. The spare fits perfectly, a bit squeaky but it gets in there fully inflated. they are as quiet as the worn contis if not quieter. happy camper all round. measuring the sidewall it went up from 3 7/8”...

Throwing code P0807 - Clutch position sensor - circuit low

Throwing code P0807 - Clutch position sensor - circuit low

In my case as soon as I took the old motor and gear assembly apart I realized that the motor was stuck. The gear assembly was fine. The motor has a braking mechanism to hold it in place at the required locking / slip level for the differential and this brake was giving me the error codes as...

Throwing code P0807 - Clutch position sensor - circuit low

no need to lower the spare or lower diff. I put it into off road mode then raised another couple of inches with the jack stands to give me more clearance. you will need (to completely replace the entire assembly) LR 032711 loctite 5900 scraper (small 6") pry bar (small 6") shallow and deep...

Throwing code P0807 - Clutch position sensor - circuit low

I put in a complete motor and gear assembly. It’s only 4 bolts. But if you go that route make sure you clean the sealing face on the diff thoroughly. Also I used the loctite sealant that Land Rover recommend for the joint. After installing and testing I changed the oil. If you go down the...

Throwing code P0807 - Clutch position sensor - circuit low

I had the same thing. Check the connection to the diff motor under the car. In my case I test cycled it a couple of times on the iid tool and it got stuck somewhere partially engaged. This dropped the car to its bump stops and lit up the dash like Christmas. I ended up changing the motor and...

    LR4 Mileage Poll

I hear you all and sympathize on the tech. But I’ve just spent way too long bastardizing my dash to get an oversized screen and Iplay working to eliminate the “pizza slice phone in hand” of my better half. and yes. I’m only saying that as she has no way of finding out ;) Young reactions and...

    Front Wheel Bearings - Question

If the socket doesn’t fit through the wheel bore then you can take that side off no problem and leave the other on the ground. When you’re torquing up, the wheel that’s on the ground provides enough resistance to get the nut to the correct torque. I had to push out the half shafts when I did...

Low mile year, should I still get annual oil change? (out of warranty)

Throwing my hat into the ring here. 5k miles or every 12 months regardless. It’s cheap to do and for the sake of 30 minutes of your time.... Towing is classed as arduous usage by LR and calles for a totally different maintenance schedule.

    Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding

Thanks for the input gents, apart from the recovery gear and general stuff like tyre plugs and duct tape etc I'm leaning towards a few sensors just in case. As far as replacing or repairing coolant hoses in the field I've used self amalgamating tape on Diesel engines in a pinch in the past, not...
