Oil in intake manifold
This engine sounds like it needs an air/oil separator able to return downstairs vs a catch can. Puking that much oil vapor doesn't sound right no matter how good the engine is as it will coat and build up behind the intake valves rather quickly. Has anyone shoved a endoscope down the intake... -

As far as CarFax goes, several LR's have been seen at a LR dealership that were clean but had damage repairs done by owners to body shops, one of those cash repairs no records required. Sure bet a replacement PCV valve is a lot cheaper than a valve cover replacement knowing LR pricing. Older vehicles have PCV valves you could take apart and clean, one snap ring your inside, cleaning and reinstall within 10 minutes. Never replacing one with a modern replacement throwaway. OEM... -

Better yet send your oil to a lab like Blackstone to get it checked for coolant or combustion byproducts in your coolant. Oil labs checking for different normal metals wearing off and if finding a spike increase in in any one type of metal this a sure warning sign before the big **** failure...- BeemerNut

Can you put a little light on what kind of failure your engine had and is this a known flaw or a freak thing like a blown hose or sudden loss of oil failure?
