    LR5 Release Updates?

It's hard for me because somehow I still live in 1990s dollars. But my first RR 1991 SWB -which I loved but was generally a pile of crap compared with what you get with the new Land Rovers- had a sticker of somewhere in the $45,000 range. So with 80% inflation, and TONS of improvements...

What do you think, new bushings needed?

Same here in MI, my brakes last forever compared to a lot of rovers. Although it sounds like I do have a premature rear LCA bushing wear going on right now. I was thinking I'd see how hard it was to replace just the bushing only. Atlantic british has a video of doing it.

    Found an LR4, a couple pre-purchase questions...

I'm not picturing a plastic skid plate.... What I can tell you is the big one covering the oil plug, and the little one that you have to remove to get to the filter, are identical. You need to buy a mighty vac ($90 or so). hook it up to an attachment inside the oil filler hole and it sucks...

What do you think, new bushings needed?

Sway bars bushings won't make the ride noticeably firmer would they?

    Found an LR4, a couple pre-purchase questions...

They've got the same plates as the LR3. Best part is you never have to take 'em off! (at least for oil changes) Dang, you won't believe how much fun oil changes are now, lol!

    LR4 Favorite Year?

I generally think of LUX as having better leather and better stereo. Also, my HSE doesn't have dipping mirrors or memory seats. Now that I write this, I have to go check about the seats. I have absolutely no idea if it has memory seats, have to go check now, LOL. You're right xenon lights...

    LR4 Favorite Year?

Wow, this is unchartered territory. It looks I've broke even after 2 years of driving it?? I would think of selling it if there was anything at all I'd rather have. It should really say something to LR execs about how much we like boxy V8s.

    LR5 Release Updates?

It was a pretty colorful article for sure, lot's of hyperbole. I'd love to see the video where the car got through knee deep 'mud' with stock tires unscathed. I'm not completely sure the author knows what mud is... It talked like there was a coil spring version? I had not read about that...

Prospeed roof ladder and light bar

I've always wondered about wiring roof lights. Do you really have to drill into the actual A pillar, or just the plastic cover over it and run it down to the engine compartment?

Lessons from a dead battery and where you hang your keys

My key has been in mine for 23 or so hours a day since I got it. I'm in the "sounds like a load of crap" camp as well. The 5k a year most likely had everything to do with it. The battery probably never got charged up good.

    LR5 Release Updates?

It looks like if someone took that LR4 on the left and blew into it really really hard, you'd get that puffed up bloated mess to the right of it. I have to stop looking at this thread, it just makes me sad.

    Front Diff?

Wouldn't hurt to also change your diff fluid and look for excessive filings.

What is the best MY for a LR4?

Do tell on the timing chain tensioners. That's the one and only long term worry that I have. Had rattly ones on my LR3 and that was going to be $4000. i've heard the LR4 are more like $7000? (and more likely to happen on the 4)

What is the best MY for a LR4?

You don't really say best for what? Price? reliability? I would say they are all about the same reliability wise. LR doesn't make a habit of improving things they know are weak spots. You might spend 15k more for a 2013 over a 2010 but it isn't going to be 15k 'better' IMO. But yeah, I...

High Range to Low Range Scarry Feeling

That's just not the case with mine. I didn't try 25 but I was going 15 and pressed the button and held it down all the way til it rolled to a stop. It dinged and said speed to hi for low range. It still didn't go to low when I was stopped until I unpressed the button and pressed it again...

High Range to Low Range Scarry Feeling

Because it's pointless or you think somehow it's bad? Due to your post I tried today, 4000rpm is a little over 50. Also tried to switch to switch to lo when going 2 or 3 mph. It dinged and told me no ah ah.

High Range to Low Range Scarry Feeling

Yes you are, or no more than 1 or 2 mph. But it should have told you that you were going too fast to switch to low and prevented it from happening.

    Lower control arm question

I'm in the TBD mode right now right at 40,000 miles. I'm getting a semi-clunk over potholes, almost always in cold weather though. It actually sounds more like a chirpyclunk. At first I thought it was the rubber grommet on the tailgate or something. Pretty sure it'll turn out to be the LCA...

2016 Land Rover LR4 (Discovery 4) Project Build

    Driver's Seat Bottom Cushion Movement

I've seen posts about this. Mine does it (2013), or at least did it, I don't notice it anymore but it drove me crazy at first. It's the whole seat moving on the rails.

Home setup/equipment for swapping wheels and undercarriage rinsing, etc.

I have a fork truck with a 3000 lb capacity. It's just enough to lift up one side at a time (at the B pillar) and do the front and rear. You should get one of those :) At home I have the same jack as Paul. I didn't know you guys used salt in the CA mountains, interesting.

new 18" wheel from Lucky8 offoad?

First, thanks for the compliment. I'm very happy with my set up. People say the bearings will wear faster, and I agree in theory that they should. But I can't say I remember any reports about that actually happening - not that I've been completely on top of it. Also as was said, they will go...

Right side mirror doesn't dip or retract. Ideas?

OK then it should dip. Have you ever adjusted it? Put the truck in reverse and then set the mirror manually to where you want it to dip. After that, it should dip to that position. If not, then yeah, it's broken.

Right side mirror doesn't dip or retract. Ideas?

Did it ever dip? A lot of people think they have it because it's in the menu for everyone, but all LR4s are not fitted with it. Mine isn't.
