Front sway bar, grease nipples, exhaust heat shield

My friend has quick disconnects on both his Grand Cherokee and Wrangler (sorry for the swearing involved in this post). When we were in Moab in May we were able to remove the sway bars in no more than a few minutes. On the other hand, our other friend doesn't have the quick disconnects and it...

What should I buy: roof rack or hella lights?

Chris, Those are great pictures, thanks. I may also consider your air dam modification, but will wait to see how bad the noise/resistance is when I have everything clamped on.

    Hello from Indiana

Don't be jealous - I always say that people spend their money on their passions. My passions happens to be vehicles, so I keep buying as I have the money available. Maybe this is more of an addiction than a passion?  DISCLAIMER: My graduate degree is a finance emphasis...

    New guy with a question

Jason, On a side note - what are your other vehicles (if you don't mind me asking)? Feel free to respond by starting a new thread in the "introductions" section.

What should I buy: roof rack or hella lights?

Sergei, Post pictures as soon as you can. In particular, I would like some close ups of the welds.

    Noobie = P

Like Mike said, there is a flat key that "unlocks" the head unit. No screwdriver that I know of will unlock the radio. Any radio/tape deck installation company will have this tool, as well as the dealer. I have never seen where you can buy one, but I am sure there are places to buy this...

What should I buy: roof rack or hella lights?

Also - I now have zip ties and I will have the roof rack in a little while. I hope to purchase the hellas in another couple of weeks. So I guess that my poll has turned into more of a shopping list. At least I am buying fun items right now, instead of spending $ on repairs.

What should I buy: roof rack or hella lights?

That that anyone cares, but my roof rack will be shipping sometime this week! I am just so excited that I had to post an update!

    Hello from Indiana

Chris, I traded my 2000 in for a 2004 and love the change. Even though my 2000 had a CDL, I did not have it working/hooked up. My 2004's CDL is very easy to use and fun too! Just my 2 cents on the trade-in topic...

What to believe - owner's manual or LR's site

So here is another "odd" Discovery towing question for anyone to respond to... My 2004 Discovery owner's manual states that the max trailer weight, in high-range, is 4,410 lbs. Land Rover's US site states this same figure as 5,500 lbs...

Prospective N00B .....*hangs head in shame*

Good call Sam - even if you aren't really going to fix everything that you bring up in the negotiations.

Prospective N00B .....*hangs head in shame*

You can replace it with a non-heated one, but in my neighborhood you often need the heated one. And if the rest of the vehicle has the cold-climate package, I would try to keep the heated windshield (for the complete package). Obviously, just my opinion.

    Oil Cost Too Much!!!

Even my LR dealer doesn't charge that much for a full-service oil change, it maxes out around $60-something. (My new LR has the premium member maintenance - all service included for the first 4 years)

Prospective N00B .....*hangs head in shame*

If that windshield is one that has heating elements in it (both of my Discovery's had/have the cold climate package, which includes a heated windshield), it will cost you approx. $600 to replace. I might have missed it, but was there any lift listed on the vehicle (I see the 31's mentioned...

    Color Code

Also - here is a LR VIN calculator: http://www.clifton.nl/index.html?calvin.html (but I can't remember if the VIN provides the color or not)

Justin, It looks like I jacked your thread - I apologize. Did you ever find any pricing information on the rear a/c?

    G4 vs. Camel Trophy

I also saw that there were more vehicles than I thought (from andyb's link). I stand corrected in a big way.... Used in the Camel Trophy: 1980 Jeep 1981 Range Rover 2-dr. 1982 Range Rover 2-dr. 1983 Series III 88" 1984 Land Rover One-Ten 1985 Land Rover Ninety 1986 Land Rover Ninety...

    G4 vs. Camel Trophy

I would think all of the above... (especially the more expensive part). I know that you can buy a G4 edition from the dealer, but that it only has some of the G4 "look", not nearly all of the mods that the true G4 Challenge vehicles had. I have seen 2 or 3 Camel Trophy models in Northern...

    G4 vs. Camel Trophy

The G4 vehicle line-up covers all of the Land Rover vehicles from the 2003 model year (Freelander, Discovery, Defender, Range Rover). The Camel Trophy is only the Discovery from older model year(s) (but I can't recall the model years off the top of my head - sorry). The "which is cooler"...

Selling some things... need price opinions.

You hit a tree!!!!???????!!!???!!??! Did you slide into it (an understandable off-roading mishap), or simply decide to plow into the bugger while driving down the road (not understandable, but quite funny)?

Selling some things... need price opinions.

My brush guard was a little over $800 installed. It is quite a bit different than yours. Also, it looks like you have Hella lamps mounted. Would they be sold with it as well?

Selling some things... need price opinions.

Justin, if you can decribe the brush guard, or upload a picture, I can tell you what I paid for mine - understanding that I bought mine directly from the dealer.
