That is a great picture, showing lots of articulation in both the front and rear.

Prospective N00B .....*hangs head in shame*

The SLS is an option at the "SE" level, and is standard at the "HSE" level. I have a 2004 SE7 with SLS and CDL, but not ACE (since they revised the suspension system for this year.

Prospective N00B .....*hangs head in shame*

I may be overreacting, but I would be concerned with a Discovery that has been in an accident "bad" enough to bend the frame. The Land Rover frame is probably the strongest piece of the entire vehicle. The typical SUV has a "C" shaped frame, whereas the Land Rover is a box, shaped like the...

    Hay Hay!!

Not sure on the D1's, but the D2's and RR's call for premium unleaded gasoline. What it really comes down to is that you can run on the lowest grade gas as long as it is not making your engine knock. Personally, I run 91 octane (the highest grade we have here in Utah).

    Zip Ties

The reason I asked was that I thought I had found a great deal on eBay, but upon closer inspection Saturday night at WalMart, the eBay deal wasn't that great. My little boy was walking down the isle at WalMart with me. He grabbed something off the shelf and threw it into my cart. What a...

    Hay Hay!!

On the question of reliability: My first Discovery was a 2000 Series II. I bought it with approx. 34,000 miles on it, but the dealer threw in a 6 year/100,000 mile warranty (so very worth it - it was fully transferable, and when I sold it without transferring the warranty Land Rover corporate...

Suggestions for a cargo net for a roof rack?

I am looking for 2 different cargo nets for my Discovery: 1 - a cargo net for a NWP roof rack 2 - a cargo net for the rear storage/seating area of the Discovery (inside, where seats 6 & 7 are located) Any suggestions on best places to look for these types of items (besides ebay...

    Centerline wheels

The beadlocks don't allow the sidewall to "leave" the wheel (this is great for airing down for better traction/crawl-ability when off-road). The laws on beadlocks vary from state-to-state (from what I understand). I am sure there is a better explanation why they may be illegal, but I don't know...

    Who says Rovers leak oil??

Not to spoil the fun, but neither of my Discovery's leaked any oil (but one was a 2000, and the other is a 2004). I never had a drop of oil leak in the last 2 years.

    What makes one ......

That'll teach me... I should always check my resources before blabbing/posting. I don't have those episodes anymore; they came from a DVD compilation that I borrowed (available on amazon.com). I must have deleted them because I cannot find them anywhere. Sorry to disappoint Andy.

Misfire and transmission (2 part question)

Kind of disappointing when you have to respond to your own question, huh. Maybe someone can still help with the second part (because I don't know :-) ).

What should I buy: roof rack or hella lights?

I will try for the lights next month (but I want to put them on the brush bar, instead of up on the rack). You know those switches surrounding the Discovery dash (rear wiper, fog lamps, etc.)? I had my Land Rover dealer throw in an extra auxillary lights switch so that I will have every single...

What should I buy: roof rack or hella lights?

UPDATE: I bought the NorthWest Parts Voyager Roof Rack for my 2004 Discovery. I decided to get the normal rack instead of the low profile one (the 2 inches difference on the lower one still does not allow me to park in the majority of the parking garages in my area). Oh yeah - I am still...

What should I buy: roof rack or hella lights?

Sergei, I was thinking the same thing, but additional tubing might be useful. You don't happen to have a contact phone number for NWP (the # on their site only allows you to leave a message)? I have been emailing Nicole but it always seems to take so long for a response.

    Just thought i'd say hello.

Rok, Has your 1979 Series III 109 ever been rebuilt? It looks quite good for being 25 years old.

    Most Important tools?

With Roy's item list just about covers everything from a flat tire to a complete rebuild. That is amazing. I really need to compile a comprehensive "toolkit".
