Is there any reason to not use synthetic oil?
Ya they recomended 5k between oil changes. People love to have you change the oil early. Conventional oil has been shown for years to be good for 6k miles so a semi synth I would expext 8k and 10-15k for synth. -

Terain control knob stopped working

I Know a guy who is running 265-65-18 Hankook at10 and he seems to like them he had the GYSA before he has not said anything about any rubbing. I would go with the Hankook over the GYSA and the BFG if running on the trail. They are beeing proven superior on the trail compaired to the BFG... -
LR3 + size wheels
The newer 06 and up rims from a range rover I believe fit on the LR3. Redbourn also makes rims that fir LRs. Some X5 rims fit as well. -
