TPMS Warning light comes on and off

I actualy had a similar issue but it turned out to be a short in the fuel pump ground that was causing it. One of the main connector plugs between the inner and frame wiring harnes was loosing connection and the ground to the fuel gage sendors was making up for it. Took awhile to find but...

    Rubicon Trail Question

I have heard it is quite a bit easier than when I posted that run 4 years ago. The county was getting ready to clear it out for more accessibility when we went. Some of my Norcal friends have confirmed that it is. That said, I still think the basic under body protection and a winch are...

    Alarm going off

I just took my switch and cut it near the plug and soldered the contacts together. Then sealed that end. Eventually when I was sure that was the issue, I just ordered the replacement switch and installed it. You can make a jumper with a paper clip or even 2 spade connectors. If it is not the...

How to test an Air Strut?

There is probably no real way to test an individual spring unless you have an individual spring testing tool or make one. if it is the valve block leaking you can look at that. You live in the phoenix area so there are many independent shops and a couple dealers so I don't understand why you...

Off centre wheel after suspension work

You just have to adjust both tie rod ends in the direction the steering wheel is off. For example if the steering wheel is center and the car steers to the right you adjust the right side tow in and the left side tow out by the same increments to steer straight when the wheel is centered. if it...

    LR3 SE '06 navigation

I have seen several people use an ipad mounted in the cubby area or elsewhere for their navigation.

    LR3 SE '06 navigation

Garmin makes a pretty good glass screeen 3D unit that is close to about the size of the factory unit for about $400 and fits well in the cubby of the the factory screen. Much better operation than the antiquated factory unit and easily updated. I think there is even a dash frame I have seen...

    LR3 SE '06 navigation

It is not so simple to install factory nav. There is a write up over on the Disco3 UK website but it involves new wiring looms under the dash, new fiber optic lines, dvd unit under the passenger seat ($4k new) and of course the nav screen ($1,800 new). You also must have the hi-line stereo...

    Driveline Noise

Check the rear driveline carrier bushing. Mine went out around 60k. It is hidden by the heat shield but if you get under the car you can shake it up and down. the rubber part around the metal bearing seems to ware out. it is going out again on mine. it is not detrimental but does vibrate and...

    Climate control not working

might need to clean out the sensor vent to the right side of the steering wheel. mine was pretty clogged up. also the 2 controls need to be within 2 degrees of each other or they start to work against each other so I read somewhere once upon a time.

    Replacing DMTL pump on LR3

The pump is attached to the canister. Unhook the hoses and the bolts and it just comes right out. Then remove the pump from the canister.

    Chasing one last foreign sound...

Had a similar issue on my buddies LR3. Went through everything. CV joints, swaybars ball joints, you name it. Turned out to be the skid plates flexing.

    2005 front fuel sending unit

I didn't bother testing them as my fault codes told me which was acting up. The code read sensor 1 or sensor 2 failure. But I think it was sensor 1 for the front and 2 for the rear. I think the sensors parts even said 1 or 2 on them.

    2005 front fuel sending unit

I used my left arm, going forward from back to front with the tank on the ground. looking down from the top into the fuel pump access hole you just feel down to the left sliding down the left hand side wall of the tank. The insertion is not to hard either, you toss the sender down in to the...

    2005 front fuel sending unit

Call it all you want, I have done it several times. I am 6'2 Slender built. My forearm is 19.5 inches long from elbow to finger tip. You have to make sure all is clear on the left side (lines etc) and work your hand down the side and pop your elbow down into the hole, having better then...

LR3 Leather cracked on compartment cover

Check with Rover parts west on line. they are usually 20-30% lower then the dealers around me but will still probably be in the approximate range with shipping depending where you are.

    which rod?

Wow! has it been that long now. dod nt see this back when it was posted 7 months ago, but what Nathan posted was correct. Hardware was easy. Just the new locking diff that came as a complete unit with motor and all and cost much less back then. The electronics was just about tenacity and...

clunking feel from the steering wheel

It could be steering rack or tie rod. Tie rods are easy to test, jack up a front wheel and see if you can wobble the wheel back and forth. if it wobbles you can then see where the play is in either the inner or outer tie rods ends. Usually it is a bit of both. the steering rack I found that...

    Spray Painting Wheels

I just hit mine with back to black about once a quarter and I get compliments on it regularly. It only take me about an hour to hit it up good and even my car wash will do it for me for not to much of a fee.

I have, you get a speed sensor fault and get put down to the bumps. I had a 255/55/18 spare on with 265/65/18 on the other wheels.

    "clunk" sources

Houm, here is a list of clunking things I have replaced over the last 3 years on my 2006 with 105k on it now. Sway bar link, they can separate and pop back in so hard to see unless you get lucky and catch it. low probability but I have seen it on a 1 or 2 vehicles. One of mine was bent which...
