    Black Wheels

I'm debating painting my 5 spoke 18" wheels black. Every time I go do some serious rock crawling I get some serious wheel damage. Right now 4/5 of my wheels are scraped up pretty bad. I'm thinking if I shoot them with some flat black paint I'll be able to touch them up after I get any damage...

    Roof Rack Suggestions?

I had the factory cross bars and sold them. They weren't versatile enough. I bought Yakima cross bars and haven't looked back. I have two bike racks, the 2nd largest cargo box, and a small rack. I can load the top out however I want for whichever trip I'm doing. Best of all it takes 2 minutes to...

    Sliders opt 2 slims

Did you actually have the exhaust system touching the Rasta plate? I don't and I got a big increase in sound in the cabin. Of course my exhaust is crushed into my frame at the moment. Once i get that fixed tomorrow I will update on how much additional noise I have with these bolt ons.

    Sliders opt 2 slims

I just put sliders on too and am interested in a way to reduce the increased cabin noise. There are many points of contact and dynamat is not cheap. Nathan how do you use neoprene disks? Are you just putting those around the bolts used to attach the sliders to the vehicle?

    Fuel Tank Skid

FYI I contacted Hi Country and they say if we put a note in the order informing them it needs to work with the Rasta T-Case plate and the sliders, they will customize and send it as such.

    Fuel Tank Skid

Alright when she empties out I'll get some good therapy beating that plate flat again and cross my fingers. Then I'll just hope I coincidently couldn't get it started due to the altitude as you mentioned, wishful thinking but we'll see if I get lucky for once!

    Fuel Tank Skid

LR Newport Wants $440 for labor plus $1100 for the tank itself. Can I install the tank myself?

    Fuel Tank Skid

Ya things aren't looking good from the pic. Now if my fuel tank seems to be accurate is there any reason why I'd swap the tank out? I'd hate to have the car die again buried in the wild but I $1,000 is a bit much to pay for the insurance that it won't happen again if all other signs are OK....

    Fuel Tank Skid

Ah that's a shame I need a skid plate down there. Guess I'll end up getting one custom made.

    Fuel Tank Skid

When you dented your skid, did you have to replace your tank? was it as bad as mine? Do you leave the factory skid in place when you install the High Country one? What is that plate you have going over the muffler?

    Fuel Tank Skid

Maybe it's worse than I thought. I'm no longer hopeful that it was just the altitude causing my problem. Although does it make any sense that after some time it would work perfectly except for the fuel gauge?

    Fuel Tank Skid

I don't THINK mine is anywhere near as bad as that one. Tough to say for sure from that pic and I've only an iPhone to snap a photo of it with at the moment. I'll try and get one later. So now I'm hopeful that it was the altitude as you said in the other thread, and concerned it's tank damage...

    Fuel Tank Skid

High Country says you can order it from them configured to work with the RS sliders. Does it STILL not fit properly when ordered like this? Mine is dented in about an inch or two deep and in the front foot of the tank skid. Is this where the pump is? Is that enough damage to have potentially...

    John Bull Trail Run 10/10

That'd be fun. I'll pencil it in and we'll see if the stars align.

    John Bull Trail Run 10/10

That's encouraging. If I can get the fuel gauge to be accurate I won't worry about mentioning any of that to the dealer. I did bail out half way through indeed. It was about 8:30 at that point and I wasn't fully confident the vehicle would make it through. I thought it unwise to continue given...

    John Bull Trail Run 10/10

Well the trail was done and I am home after a very very long day. Here's an excerpt from my writeup which you should read on my blog. I’ve been doing a considerable amount of four wheeling lately with my good buddy Scott. We’ve grown to really appreciate the activity and look forward to doing...

    Fuel Tank Skid

Even without the weight of a full tank of gas? If so I'll run it down as low as possible. My fuel gauge isn't working. It showed 3/4 when I had about a gallon of fuel left. Related? Likely to fix itself by popping the tank back out? I also believe I had a fuel pump issue as the vehicle stalled...

    Fuel Tank Skid

Mike: Don't I have a better shot at getting the tank to pop back out if I do it when it's full of fuel? Is there anything else at all holding the tank in place? Trynian: Was an adventure to say the least, will post a full update tonight.

    Fuel Tank Skid

Dented the fuel tank skid pretty well over the course of the last few trips. I know these are expensive to replace as the tank itself needs to be replaced most often. I've heard that hammering out the fuel tank skid can let the factory tank pop back out. Can I remove the skid plate without the...

    John Bull Trail Run 10/10

Of all the photo's I've seen, this one looks to be one of the tougher spots because of the side angle and the trees.

    John Bull Trail Run 10/10

Thanks for the writeup Woods, always appreciated. My team is a couple of very talented and intelligent drivers, one in a nice Tacoma that I'm sure will have no problem on the trail with his 33's, lift, and more. He's also got a winch and I carry all the proper recovery gear on any trail...

    John Bull Trail Run 10/10

Alright guys you've made me nervous. I've done hundreds (thousands?) of miles off road. rock crawling, snow, mud, you name it. Cleghorn many times, etc. Am I being foolish trying JB with my usual team? If I do Gold Mountain and have no problem, would it be safe to assume I'm ready to jump over...

I have heard of the trail but never run it. Will have to check that out sometime. I'll dust off the ol' checkbook and send it in.

Installing Rasta 4x4 Transfer Case Plate

I guess I got lucky, I didn't have any exhaust too close to the plate and I got no rattle at all.
