    Defender 130 an LR4 replacement?

I don't have the family seating needs anymore but after test driving the 110, the lack of usable storage space compared to the venerable LR4 really stood out. I'd like a nice V8 D90 for running around offroad, but jeez, that's tough to justify for the $$$.

    HD vs non-HD package LR4

The difference between having the hi/lo gearing and not is the key difference to me. My '12 non-HD, with 265/65/18 (fully inflated spare underneath btw) does everything I need short of the Rubicon, wheel-in-the-air scenario. I go off-road regularly with a reasonably heavy dirt bike on the back...

    Looking to purchase - 2012 - LR4 - Advice

$16k seems a bit high to me (I own a 2012) unless the extra parts and timing replacement chain peace of mind fill the gap - which they very much might do.

    18”New Defender steelies on LR4

Everyone gets to go their own way. The main thing is to get smaller rims and bigger, better offroad tires on these fine vehicles. For me, LR3 18"s, black, on a green LR4 has completely changed the look, and attitude, of the Beast. OP - your wheels look great!

Thanks. Just seems like a lot of work to get the right new Defender with 18" wheels.

Old Defender or keep upgrading LR4

Yes, the LR4 does seem to do so much. A winch and better rear bumper would go a long way to what I need it for. Love the idea of the Defender but I still like to take long trips and comfort becomes a little more important on the aging spine...

Old Defender or keep upgrading LR4

I'm stuck between wanting to get a Defender - the real one and just continue to make more offroad my 2012 LR4. It's got 90k on it, has been excellent reliability-wise. Has 18" wheels and a nice RTT. I realize the LR4 Is Not the icon, but it does pretty good. A winch, get the wheel in the back...

LR4 Front Fender Modification for Larger Tires

As someone who went from the stock 19s to 18s and had to shave some of the frame horns down, it's been great but that's as much as I'd want to do to the structure of the truck. If you aren't doing this for more tire for offroad work then would agree on going to 20s or the 19s for better road ride.

    Definitive roof rack thread?

No, I don't think I needed spacers for the antenna but can't remember ... The wheels are powder coated 18" LR3 OEM wheels (with spacers). Hope this helps.

Is there anyway that 18" LR3 wheels will fit on a new Defender? I have a set of those on my '12 LR4 (with spacers) and was just wondering...

    Your experience about LR4 V8 5.0

I think people who learned to live with it learned to hit the 'eco off button' as a matter of course, everytime they started-up.

    Showoff Your LR4

It is on a full Rhino rack. I had it installed along with the iKamper and I remember the logic being that it was just better support to go with a full rack but I don't know that to be absolutely necessary. Might be that as a larger humanoid he was worried I'd crash through the floor of the...

    Your experience about LR4 V8 5.0

Its just one man's impression of course [emoji846] but for someone who likes the LR4 platform enough to have owned two at the same time (amazed me actually), that's how poorly it struck me - particularly underwhelming on take-off. I also found the eco engine shutoff annoying.

2012 LR4 Whining in steering wheel (inside the cabin)

Same issue here for years with my '12. It sounds just like material rubbing in material when the wheel is turned. Nothing more mechanical than that. I have applied some lube in gap between steering wheel and main steering column. Worked for a while and then came back. Not worth pulling...

    Your experience about LR4 V8 5.0

I've had a very positive experience with the V8 in my 2012. 86k miles. I had a second 2016 LR4 and was surprised by how much I disliked the eco V6. Ended up getting rid of it quickly. It's not like you couldn't live with it, many do, but compared to the V8 it did feel horribly underpowered to me.

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

I did remove the heat baffle but not sure it was necessary. I just did as a precautionary step.

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

So my 265/65s (as mentioned) did have slight rubbing at full lock but the spare fit underneath without deflating (just as long as the hitch was removed for the install). How much of what tire rubs where is wheel dependent though? LR3/Compo/Tiffany etc...?

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

Wow, very nice Troy. Nice to see a good, general option recap vs wading through all the threads. I did close to what you did. LR3 wheels, 30mm spacers but went with the KO2 265/65/18s. Similar experience to you: tiny amount of grinding on front calipers but the larger tires did rub a little...

    LR4 vs Defender

End of '21, ok, that means maybe sometime in '22. It's kind of like all the Tesla killers... You bet, great on paper, in the meantime, there's something to be said for a vehicle you can actually drive...

    LR4 vs Defender

Agree. It's, as usual, really about what you plan to do with your vehicle. For me, the RTT has been great because I am mostly getting to remote spots to basecamp and explore on a dual sport mc without serious wheeling. It also allows for a second sleeping set-up inside. I'm not saying everyone...

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

Well, I broke down and took it into the dealer thinking it would be tie rods or something more extensive and they simply balanced and rotated using the 'road force balancing' technique and the wheel shake is about 95% improved. So there's tire balancing and then there's tire balancing. [emoji6]
