    Tire selections 19"

New road tires pretty much all start off quiet. The GYs notoriously turn noisy, just like the OEM tires on Audi allroads that really make a racket and often cupped no matter what one did to prevent it. As you add miles and the tires wear, noises change and develop. New tires will likely cure...

    Side mirror puddle lamps

Magic wand. Each corner goes up and down independently, to whatever beat my H-K stereo is playing! please, don't take me too seriously.

    Side mirror puddle lamps

Yup, I finally found a good use for the remote control's LR button!

    Side mirror puddle lamps

My solution - synchopated flashing neon and LED light strips tucked in around the perimeter. Then, I move the suspension switch up/down to make the truck dance with the beat. Very classy.

Does the LR3 have the same brake rotors / pads as the RRS?

I only know that the specification pages from Monroebrakes.com, Wagner (federal-mogul.com) and some other sites (check out Rockauto.com) show the pads as the same. The RockAuto site lets users see fitment by selecting a part number, so try to decode that way. FWIW, on domestic branded...

    2005 LR3 SE-7 with EXTENDED WARRANTY...price reduced

In my area, at least, that's dealer retail for an '06 SE certified. Just offering some feedback.

    Tire wear, second alignment

Start with a nice letter to your dealer's service manager pointing out this error, with the expectation that they will rectify. Could have been just ignorance of the SA. If that fails, notch up to GM of store. LRNA is not the place to start, really. Playing nice but not too forcefully will...

The "Land Rover" 4th Button on the FOB

I'm glad someone picked up on that. I just recently read a pan of someone who mentioned Explorer and LR3 in the same sentence - oops, now I did, too. Considering that several new Jaguar grille openings look an awful lot like that of a Taurus, I think it was well past time that Ford sold off...

The "Land Rover" 4th Button on the FOB

I would have expected a manual release to allow opening with no power, like one of those trunk releases that glows in the dark in a Taurus, for emergency use.

The "Land Rover" 4th Button on the FOB

Same discussion recently took place on Disco3.co.uk with the conclusion reached that there was no way to overcome the flashers requirement. I don't have my fob here, but I believe that the configurable one is really the third button and not the fourth. Your rear gate popping experience raises...

That's a great buy for your old car! What's next?

    Tire wear, second alignment

Back on the difference for coil vs. air spring alignments, different procedures exist within the famous "close tolerance alignment TSB" for these two systems. With the automatic air system, the TSB suggests that a tech hooks the car up to the diagnostic computer and puts the car into a certain...

    Extra front brake sensor, oops

Noob mistake? My old sensor never contacted the rotor, so we left it in place to continue its good service. Save yourself a shopping trip, and save me the hassle of a return. Free USPS shipping if you pay my low, low actual product cost (I paid only $17). My invoice of last Friday's date...

    Disco 3 Cruise control

Okay, then. I have never had that happen on any of my cars before. I found it unusual that the 93 Volvo did it. My later Volvos, Audis and all other manner of domestic and foreign cars never downshifted automatically to engine brake in an attempt to hold speed down on a sloping grade where...

    Disco 3 Cruise control

Sorry, but are you saying that the Volvo downshifted automatically with cruise engaged in order to slow the vehicle? You describe maintaining speed Downhill - I'm envisioning gravity pulling the vehicle ahead of the programmed speed while downhill. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but why...

1791 Navigation Hack and NEW 2008 Map Disc

That's some hefty "backup service" fee you charge there, you will make a great lawyer one day! There's really no need for that. Why not pick on hustlers, pimps or gangsters rather than lawyers in this regard? Sheesh . . . never a moments peace, what with that silly Shakespeare line that...

    Tire wear, second alignment

Besides my Free Alignment advice (fight for this, bud) I forgot to mention that you should not get the GY tires this time, in case it's not clear. First, get the alignment. Then, choose from so many other good tires at less cost. Have you seen this yet...

    Tire wear, second alignment

WHOA -- if the dealer replaced a tie-rod under warranty, this necessitates an alignment also under warranty. Can't do the former without the latter (ask any Audi owner, darn tie rod ends are so poorly engineered, maybe those on the LR3, too?). Warranty covers this necessary alignment as part...

    Adding lumbar support to 06 LR3 -

So, today I picked the LR3 up from the upholstery shop that services our company's truck fleet when needed and that is situated at the nearest Manheim auction site. I turned it over to them to add the powered lumbar support that Land Rover did not include in the 2006 models, but that I can not...

Moderator? Where did my Lumbar post go?

Not taking it personally. Update to follow later, as job is complete and successful.

Moderator? Where did my Lumbar post go?

Not so much an inconvenience or imposition, just want to learn the way of this 'world, if you will. I'll post an update after the job's done. Did this happen on other model forums, too, or am I the only one asking today?

Moderator? Where did my Lumbar post go?

I posted some detail about adding a powered lumbar support to my LR3 last night, got a response from a member and even responded back to it. Now the whole thing is gone. Admittedly I'm new here, but I got no PM or email about deleting one of my posts, and I find no rule that my initial post...

    New tires!

This is a good looking set up, thanks for the update. My replacement 19" Toyos should be here by Friday, I hope. So few choices for 19"s, so I'll have to report after this coming winter how the Open Country HT fares for on-road use. You're set up for serious off-roading, now.
