    19” Wheels for winter?

I swapped the stock 255/55-20 Goodyear Eagles on the OEM 20" x 8.5" wheels for 285/50-20 Nitto Terra Grappler G2s on Redbourne 20" x 9.5" wheels. Redbournewheels.com (which only does after-market Land Rover/Range Rover wheels) has a wheel configurator that allows you to see how your vehicle...

    19” Wheels for winter?

Only the base model SE comes with 19" wheels. The smallest diameter wheels on the HSE and higher are 20". If the SE has Brembo brakes then a set of OEM 19s would be your best bet for snow tires.

    Hard Choices

The new JL Jeeps are garbage and are falling apart - https://www.wcpo.com/money/consumer/dont-waste-your-money/government-investigating-welds-on-jeep-wrangler-frames. Fiat (Feeble Italian Attempt at Transportation)-Chrysler needs to hire an engineer who can fix the problem with their welding...

    Winter is here. Floor Mats?

Roger that. I passed on the third row when ordering my D5 and only use the cargo area extension mat when laying down the center row for extended periods, such as long trips or camping out. Otherwise it's on a shelf in the garage.

    Satin White Wrapped D5

Nice ride, remember5! I would have considered a Toyota if a diesel engine had been an option but I'm very happy with my Disco. Congrats on 247k miles on your LR3 (may you see 300k before it needs to go)!

    Satin White Wrapped D5

For wheels check out https://www.redbournewheels.com/. Using their Wheel Configurator you can see what a D5 (in any of the current year colors) will look like with any style of Redbourne wheels. I upgraded from the stock 20" x 8.5" wheels to a set (including the spare) of 20" x 9.5" Redbourne...

    Winter is here. Floor Mats?

I replaced the stock rubber floor mats in my new D5 with front and rear WeatherTech floor liners. WeatherTechs are the gold standard for floor liners and are far superior to the stock Land Rover mats in both fit and coverage (they're available for the 2011 LR4). I kept the stock Land Rover...

    All Terrain Tires?

If you're going to do it right you also have to factor in the width of the wheels. When I exchanged the stock 255/55-20 Goodyear Eagles for 285/50-20 Nitto Terra Grappler G2s on my D5 (same outside diameter and no clearance problems) I also replaced the 20" x 8.5" OEM wheels with 20" x 9.5"...

    LR4 to Disco 5

My hat is off to you, Sir, for continuing to explore your vast beautiful outback with contempt of the fact that you've entered your eighth decade (I'm 70, having also entered my eighth decade this year). Just as ARB and several other top notch Australian companies manufacture superb off-road...

This is a little odd to me.

The new Discovery modulates the driver's generated brake pressure to the inside wheels to maintain stability when braking in corners. The new Discovery does not apply uncommanded braking during maneuvering like the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Sport (there may be others) do. Only unskilled...

    LR4 to Disco 5

If you're a diesel fanatic like I am then there's only one choice--Discovery. If you're OK with a gasoline engine then it's a toss-up but I'd still opt for the discovery because you get more inside cargo space behind the second row. Both have the exact same wading depth spec but the defender...

It’s the new Land Rover Defender!

The Defender build page at the Land Rover USA web site doesn't show a diesel engine option.

This is a little odd to me.

One more thing. If the pads haven't worn down to the metal so that they were grinding into the discs then why do the discs need to be replaced? Replacing the pads should be enough. It's utterly bizarre that the entire rear brake system needs to be replaced at 12K km. Get an answer from the...

    Good info! Thanks!

It’s the new Land Rover Defender!

Don't care for the bulging wheel well fender arches sticking out, which provide no benefit while limiting side clearance on narrow trails.

    LR4 to Disco 5

Thanks for the education! Does that put it in the same category as a salvaged vehicle? If not, I'd thoroughly research the vehicle's history and corrective actions before considering purchasing it.

This is a little odd to me.

CAD1007.19 to do just the rear brakes at under 12K km? Rear brakes should far outlast the front brakes and outrage is understandable and justified. Instead of Torque Vectoring, my Discovery has Corner Brake Control, which helps to maintain stability when braking during cornering by modulating...

    LR4 to Disco 5

My '17 D5 Td6 was $74K out the door, including tax but not registration. If "buyback" means that the owner couldn't make the payments and that there's nothing wrong with the vehicle then you should be able to get a steal of a deal on a low-mileage Td6 with years left on the warranty. Mine...

    LR4 to Disco 5

My diesel powered vehicles are a joy to drive and have the most reliable engines I've ever encountered. Neither one uses a drop of oil between oil changes. The 6.6L engine in my GMC truck has so much torque that it throws the 7600 pound truck around like it's a toy. I get almost the same...

    LR4 to Disco 5

You mean road noise, right? The Nittos had a very minor road hum at first but I hardly notice it now (the Goodyear Eagles were dead silent). A small price to pay for having tires that give me the off road capability that I bought the vehicle for in the first place.

So here is why after owning (4) Land Rovers I don't think I will ever own one again.

Since you don't rag on about the back hatch, the roof, and the seat, I assume those problems were fixed. Why does your car have to be your god damned phone? I've never connected my phone to my D5 because I don't talk on the phone while driving. Those who do are not giving their full attention...

This is what happens if you don’t listen to your LR4

I got so fed up with finding out that I was driving with one daytime running light burned out in my GMC Sierra (in order to check them the engine has to be running and the transmission has to be in gear) that I now keep two burned out bulbs in the daytime running light sockets. I can see...

    LR4 to Disco 5

Thanks for commenting! The fact that it resembles other SUVs that cost less than half as much doesn't bother me. I like the D5's appearance (definitely a paradigm shift for Land Rover) but my chief reason for buying it was its off road capability, which exceeds that of your Range Rover Sport...
