What 18" tires should I get?

Hey Nathan are you confusing the Yokohama AT-S and the Toyo Open Country AT? I know Nitto is owned by Toyo, and their AT tires are very similar in tread/compound. I have the Yoko AT-S, and I think it is very distinct from the Toyo/Nitto. It is H-rated and available in 265 and 275 60-18, so...

    Tires

I could not find those size Conti's listed on Tirerack; so I'm assuming you have the RRS size and that they are these http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Continental&tireModel=CrossContact+UHP. Which means that they are not even M&S rated, hence zero ice traction. How LR...

    What's in your garage?

Sharing the Suby love: 1996 Legacy Wagon 1998 OBS 2002 WRX wagon (STi suspension, Stoptech BBK,stromung exhaust, 3xsets wheels/tires) 2005 OBXT (20mm RSB, Yoko Advan STs) Of them all, I miss the WRX the most. It saw 15+ days at Laguna Seca or Thill, Pismo Dunes, Tahoe, and fire-road...

Talk me out of even considering a Nissan Armada

In terms of reliability, I remember reading from various sources that the Armada/QX56/Titan were at the bottom of the heap. I believe they are even ranked lower by CR than Land Rover's-god forbid.

    YATT (Yet Another Tire Thread)

Don't forget about the Yoko A/T-S in either 265/60-18 110H or 275/60-18 116H. I went with 265 as they are within 2% of OE. Both are H rated and LI supports the LR3 GVWR.

LR3 End of Lease Residual Negotiation

I'll be in the same boat as you. To compound it, I have a lot of dealer accessories that are not residualized (Bushgaurd, steps, DVD, chrome wheels-hate them); hence, I will be stripping the truck before I turn it in. Just turn it in, let it sit until the end of the month at the inflated...

    LR3 VS FJ Cruiser Offroading?

How about smoother ride offroad or ability to do serious offroading with 6 people in complete comfort? I took 6 of us on a tour of the ranch, which included a 30 degree climb over mowed brush and decompossed granite last weekend. All four wheels were in a perpetual spin-Yoko...

new guy question - 19"-20" wheels

The load index on the OE RRS tires are significantly lower than the LR3's, hence you have decreased the GVWR of your truck. Which should be no problem unless you loading-up your LR3 or towing. A few folks on Disco3 have experienced sidewall failure with this combo however. Those Conti's will...

    Problems With the LR3

Arbourstone, I had a very similar experience where my dealer was repeatedly lying or grossly incompetent and not forthright. I noticed severe wear at 750 miles, asked them to check the alignment as the steering, bumpsteer, and tramlining were also miserable. They said it was "fine", but...

V6 Rotors are they different from the V8's?

I just put the EBC sport rotors on our GX470. Be advised that these are aggressive rotors, and make a distinct whirring sound when you apply the brakes (dimple/slots). EBC even includes a rearview mirror sign to remind your wife that the noise is "normal". The rotors combined with Hawk...

    YATT (Yet Another Tire Thread)

I "think" the Silent Armors only have a load index of 110. My experience with the Toyo AT's is that they are very grippy, but do wear more than others. I'm currently looking at the Yoko A/T-S in a 275/60-18 with a load index of 116, but am trying to obtain more info on snow/ice traction. The...

This LR3 is Probably Best I've ever Owned

Yes, the GM and I are on a first name basis and I wrote a letter to LRNA with names, which resulted in the SM having to follow-up with me to "make things right". I'm giving you the condensed version. Needless to say, when I had proof that they were either lying/dishonest I was going "ballistic"...

This LR3 is Probably Best I've ever Owned

Tramlining is when the tires follow grooves in the road. This is common on sport cars with ultra-high performance tires. Our LR3 would dart right and left with abandon. My brother-in law refused to drive it, as did my wife. Is there anything worse than your wife refusing to drive your 2 month...

This LR3 is Probably Best I've ever Owned

Very much agree. But when the tires are at the wearbars after 1.5K miles and it having the worst case of bumpsteer and tramlining ever experienced, you have to go to the dealer. For new tires under warranty and use of the espresso machine, if nothing else.

New 18" tire on the market

This LR3 is Probably Best I've ever Owned

I'm with you Patriot. Our LR3 has been more reliable than any vehicle I have owned in the first 8 months; which includes Lexus, Mercedes (bloody nightmare-parted ways after 6 months), Subarus, Porsche (current), and one beloved Miata R-package. Only issue I had is with the alignment, which...

New 18" tire on the market

What do folks think of this tire in the 275/45-20? Not a rock crawling tire per se, but I really only need traction on dry/wet crushed granite (Coastal Central CA) and the occasional ski trip. This is almost the same diameter as the OE 18" and would presumably weigh less than the 285/60-18...

Anyone Regret Choosing a Black LR3?

We have a black one at my wife's insistence, I was strongly pushing for silver or grey. As Nathan points out, every ponderosa pinstripe and MILP-handbag gouge is in full evidence. The truck looks great for about 10minutes post wash, as oppossed to two weeks with my silver GX. That said, it does...

Potential New HSE Owner - With Accessory Questions

The dealer installed DVD system is really good for a roof-mounted, self-contained system. I much prefer the head-rest mounted system in the RRS, however. The head phones are wireless. It works well, I can reachup and hit all the controls from the driver's seat or let the varmints in the back...

    Big Bear

Awesome. Two questions: 1) I assume those are 285/60-18 Toyo AT's? Any rubbing at all? Notice the increase in weight (steering, ride, acceleration)-the LR3 is my wife's daily driver. 2) I know that is a LR brush bar, but I cannot find it anywhere. Our LR3 came from the dealer with the...

Picked up an '06 LR3 SE dealer loaner

There are actually two buttons. The one that everyone is referring to is opposite the one that sticks out, and is flush with the bracket; which is why you really need a quarter or strong finger nail to push it in. You have to somehow push both buttons while pulling-out the headrest-physical pain...

    After first 1000 miles

I would definetly get the alignment check. I had a nightmare scenario with the alignment on my new LR3. Purchased Jan 07 Noticed the vehicle had very severe bumpsteer and tramlining on day two of ownership At 750 miles noticed the outer treadblocks were showing significant wear Brought...
