    Trip meter random resets

Interstate battery makes a direct replacement and from the picture it looks exactly the same as the OEM except for color; right down to the integrated handles. The battery # is 49/H8 and suggested retail is $184. I believe Optima has an option as well but that will be a higher cost option.

    Windshield Lower Cowl Replacement

I've had some time lately to work on getting my Rover back to tip top shape and one part that has always annoyed me is the badly faded lower windshield cowl. Does anyone have a detailed procedure on how to replace the cowl? I'm curious to know how hard/easily the wiper blade assemblies come off...

    Trip meter random resets

This has been an ongoing issue for me and I've got a battery test report that told me it was in great shape. Starting to sound like a cold case file here. :)

    EBC Brake Pad Issue

A while ago I upgrade from my stock brake pads to EBC Green Stuff's while keeping the OEM rotor (but replaced). I've noticed that after I wash the vehicle or drive it in the rain and then park it for ~1 day the brake pads "freeze" to the rotors. I have to drive through the brakes to free them up...

Transfer Case & Differential Fluid Specification

I apologize if it was already discussed but what is the forum's recommended milage for replacing the fluides? Kwlr3 started the post with his 75,000 service but should it be done sooner? I'm coming up on 50,000 and I thought I remember someone recommending to do it then. I think we've got the...

Post Off Road Clean Up (mud!)

I too use Simple Green in the engine bay followed up with a pressure washer. I took off the center engine cover and left the battery/electronics cover on. I pre-sprayed the engine (when cool btw) with water and then sprayed the simple green and as mentioned above let it soak for a few minutes...

Tips from My "DIY Oil Change"

Brake pads will not be covered as they are considered a "normal wear item". You can search the threads for a lot of posts on options but I've gone to EBC Green Stuff pads with stock rotors and have noticed a good improvement in braking performance. To my knowledge dealers do not carry...

Tips from My "DIY Oil Change"

A new drain plug is not needed everytime and in fact the only time it should need changing is if there is damage to the threads. When switching between Conventional to Synthetic ive I think its best to let the conventional oil drain thoroughly and if you have some old Synthetic oil pour about...

2006 LR3 HSE 45K MILES service at dealership

My two cents would be to have a local reputable shop replace the brake fluid and try to perform the rest of the maintenance yourself. I'm a pessimist when it comes to my local dealer and I would bet money they wouldn't go down that checklist with attention to detail.

Rear view mirror dimmer, Cant stand it!

Perhaps a small piece of tap over the light sensor? Definately not the prettiest but it would get the job done. If theres a fuse for just the mirror than that would look nicer :)

    Need Floor Mats!

The OEM rubber floor mats are very nice and to keep your cost down you can typically find a full set on ebay for a reasonable price. At the very least go with a fitted mat.

    Cowl Trim replacement/trouble shooting

Thats good news. Cheap fix assuming it needed a new battery anyhow. Just an additional note for others; I had an issue with the passenger window guide so at highway speeds it sounded like the window was down. The giveaway was when the window was rolled down it would not go back up because the...

    Fan Clutch Not Working Properly

Thanks for the info Trynian. I had to think about that one for a bit but with the use of the radiator thermostat I guess they could increase fan speed to warm up the engine. However, I've looked at my fan clutch and I can not see a sensor/wiring therefore I don't understand how the ECM could...

questions from (soon to be) new LR owner

I've noticed it's not so much the engine but the fan speed. With the viscious fan clutches they take a few seconds, sometimes longer, to get the fluids flowing and drop down to idle fan speeds. We've also got a pretty decent sized V8 so all-in-all it takes a little bit for the things to settle...

    '08 or '09 LR3 SE?

Good choice. With the 09's similar exterior looks to the LR4's you should be able to fetch a good price if you ever want to trade up.

    Low Oil

Just a helpful side note for the DIY oil changers. Be sure to lube up the skid plate bolts with plenty of never seize to keep them from freezing up. When I performed my first oil change after I bought my LR3 I had a hell of a time getting them out. Second time with never seize, no problem.

    LR3 VS FJ Cruiser Offroading?

I second this comment. I am a fan of the AM General H1 but when GM took over they tarnished the Hummer name instantly with the H2. Forbes list, discredited.

whats your favorite exterior color for LR3?

I have the Chawton White but look forward to my next one having the Fuji White. My vote is obviously white.

    Ebony interior

Sounds like a 50/50 split :) I have the ebony and I agree blue jeans can stain the seats but I clean them ~monthly with leather cleaner and conditioner and it seems to keep them looking new. In general though ebony should hide dirt a little better between cleanings. Just my 2 cents.

    Trip meter random resets

I haven't had any issues with the message center trip but I did notice that the main tripometer resets at random milages. I've tried to use the main tripometer as a milage per oil change but one random day around 3K miles I noticed it had reset itself. I definately have the symptoms but no...

    Fan Clutch Not Working Properly

Hi All, I've noticed on several occasions that my fan clutch is not working properly causing the fan to spin at max speed with engine and each time engine temp has been at or below operating temp. So far it has not caused problems and has gone away with an engine on/off cycle but I don't want...

    7,000 Mile Oil Change?

I have yet to perform my second oil change pulling of the K&N filter but they do incorporate a tack welded 1" nut on the bottom of the filter housing so that should help out. With the little research I've done it looks like performance wise they rate up to 20 micron but some argue that partical...
