2013 LR4 with overheated engine...what would you pay

Agreed, under 5k. Figure $8k-12k for a rebuild or replacement engine.

Known Auto-Salvage (Junk Yard) Resources for Harvesting Hard to Find Parts

I don't have a specific retailer, but one of my stragegies has been finding parts from damaged rovers on ebay. If I need engine parts, I find a listing for a parts car, including a vin and pics, that has rear damage. and vice cersa if I need parts from the rear of the vehicle. I always make sure...

    Device error

What you need is an Invery bluetooth adapter. It plugs into the propriatory plug. Make sure you get the one for your LR4. My phone connects automatically now, every single time I get into the car. Works great and sounds real good. Found on amazon for about $75.

2014 LR4 SCV6 - oil leaking from vacuum pump and upper timing cover on passenger side

I wish I had seen this before you replaced the vacuum pump. It's literally a 15 minute job with a $100-200 part. I bought a vacuum pump from the company that makes them for LR and installed it myself after my indy shop wanted to do it for $1100.

Help! My LR4 Needs a New Engine & I Need Your Input

I had the same dilema last year when my motor had the starvation issue on the top end, chucks of metal inside the engine "somewhere". I had the same options and chose to do the Tapa engine. All in it cost around $21k. Mine is a 2012 in immaculate condition, new tires, etc. Now it runs like a...

    LR4 5.0L V8 MAP Sensor Replacement DIY

Thank you for this write up. I've been having issues for the last few months, and was kind of at my wits end chasing gremlins. I'd clean the throttle body, and it would be fine for a few days, then restricted performance, reset the error codes, and be good for a few days, then restricted...

    LR4 Restricted performance, rough idle

Cleaning the throttle body seemed to fix the issue for me, until yesterday. All week it drove great, plenty of power, no lights or issues, then yesterday it suddenly dropped into restricted mode for a city block, I parked it and it started idling fine again. Then everything was fine the rest of...

    LR4 Restricted performance, rough idle

I'm having the same issue, along with throttle body codes. I just cleaned the throttle body with MAF cleaner and it seems better. I'm wondering if replacing the throttle body fixed this for you.

    LR4 Headlight turned Amber?

I installed a set of the brighter bulbs in my son's 2015 Audi A4 and they are definitely brighter. Although I cheaped out and bought the $5 ones, because its not my car, and not my money. They both work fine.

Camshaft Sensor and Low Oil Level..

Elite obviously knew Rover engines, or at least knew more than some of the other shops did. Tapa did it on mine, they fix the oil starvation issue and timing chain guide issues when they rebuild, then overbuild the long blocks so they are better than they came from the factory: FORTIFIED...

Camshaft Sensor and Low Oil Level..

Ironically, my engine is also a rebuilt that was just replaced this last spring. Mine came from Tapa Jaguar and Land Rover Engine out of Santa Clarita, CA. I'm happy with the engine, less than happy with the shop that has been doing work on my rover. The install went fine and I haven't had many...

Camshaft Sensor and Low Oil Level..

I recently had my 2011 Rover throw multiple codes and one of the causes was low oil, so I checked the level and found I was 2 quarts low. It showed I was low when I checked it, but I never had a warning light pop up. I had a new radiator installed and wonder if oil was lost/drained for some...

Multiple error codes in cold weather

Maybe. I noticed I was a quart low on oil, so I topped it off and put it on the maintenance charger for the night. I had the radiator replaced the day before this all started, and after discovering a leak, had it replaced again today. They chased down the error codes, but nothing really panned...

Multiple error codes in cold weather

I had cleared the codes a couple times over the last couple weeks until I realized the errors went away after it warmed up. I just had the radiator replaced before this started so I wondered if they didn't seal something or something was loose. It's going back in for another radiator next week...

Multiple error codes in cold weather

Ever since the weather turned frigid cold a couple weeks ago here in the midwest I've been having issues with cold starts. I used to be able to fire up my rover, back out of the garage and take off just fine. Now I start her up and back out and the dash lights up like an xmas tree. I get...

    LR4 as a College Car.

Beautiful pictures! I forget how gorgeous the scenery is out that way. I didn't see your original post, but since I sent my non-mechanical son to college in a highly modded 2015 Audi A4, I doubt I would have had much to offer. Whenever he has an issue all it takes is for him to mention taking it...

Bleeding Coolant procedure 2014 LR4 how to ?

Thank you for the bleeding instructions. This was super timely for me. I had my car in a couple weeks ago to identify an oil leak and the tech must have moved a coolant clamp out of the way and forgot to reinstall it properly. Yesterday i got the engine overheat warning as I pulled into my drive...

I haven't set that up. I'm still deciding if I'm good with the Invery Bluetooth adapter or if I want more connectivity.

2011 LR4 shimmy/vibration -- control arms? warped or glazed rotors?

The vibration is completely gone! So smooth now, and the steering feels tighter than it used to. This is why I always come here for answers when I have questions or any issues with my Rover. And I highly recommend watching Dan's video on LCA replacement on YouTube, he's under the "tx from wi"...

2011 LR4 shimmy/vibration -- control arms? warped or glazed rotors?

Done! Honestly, it went better than I thought it would. After saying it came apart easily, I had one stuck ball joint that gave me fits, and I spent a couple hours chasing down an air leak in the passenger shock. I had the alignment this morning and even with my marginal "home alignment" it road...

difference between front and rear valve blocks?

I just replaced my front valve block on my 2011 with one I ordered from amazon. Nothing fancy, came with new vox fittings, works like it's supposed to work. $50ish.

    Poor man’s CarPlay installed

I had been researching this myself. I found a couple options, but I'm kind of holding off right now because in reality, my 2011 LR4 does what I need it to do with just a Bluetooth adapter. But here are a couple videos I've saved. One is a very detailed installation of an integrated system the...

    New (to me) 2012 LR4 5.0

Ouch. That sucks. I had the oil starvation issue on the top end and destroyed a valve and the cylinder this spring. I had a new motor dropped in and couldn't be happier. I'm currently doing the lower control arms and new front air struts. My only concern with a new motor is if I get into an...

2011 LR4 shimmy/vibration -- control arms? warped or glazed rotors?

So I started the front end today expecting the worst after watching nearly every LCA video on the 'tube. It makes me nervous to say every came apart just fine. And I won't need to use the hardware kits I purchased. I'm thinking that at 135k miles, this might be the third time they are being...

2011 LR4 shimmy/vibration -- control arms? warped or glazed rotors?

The balance was just checked after it started, so I ruled that out. When the car is up I can't manhandle any movement out of the LCA, but with a small 8" pry bar in the mounting bracket, I can get some movement. They look to be the original land Rover control arms, and between Carfax and my 50k...
