2015 Land Rover LR4 HSE- Thinking about buying, does the engine sound right? https://youtu.be/wqjUb-qWbxE

I would want to chase that leak down. Btw, on your original question...My 2016 only 23K on the ODO sounds pretty much like that. Having a repair reserve $'s is a good plan. Even on the SC v6 the cooling system...crossovers, water pump etc. is an achilles heal.

2015 Land Rover LR4 HSE- Thinking about buying, does the engine sound right? https://youtu.be/wqjUb-qWbxE

Just saw the CARFAX. Not bad- one owner, ok miles, certainly dealer maintained. Should be able to drill down on all of that if need be.

2015 Land Rover LR4 HSE- Thinking about buying, does the engine sound right? https://youtu.be/wqjUb-qWbxE

If you're still tempted: Mileage on it?..history?..and price? Or maybe I missed that?...

2015 Land Rover LR4 HSE- Thinking about buying, does the engine sound right? https://youtu.be/wqjUb-qWbxE

Probably did if sales/revenue proportion has anything to do with it: 2016 was a record year of sorts for JLR- 521.5K total units world wide (first MY over 500K)- 427.1K LR, 94.5K Jag. 82% and 18%. 2023 same trend on less sales JLR 420.5K total units - 356K LR, 64K Jag. 85% and 15% That said...

How to: Supercharger Removal, Rear Crossover, and Passenger Valve Cover

Thanks again, and welcome to the forum. There's a wealth of useful and important info here,...including your input. I intend to keep mine for a long while. Every time I think otherwise and start considering what the current options are that might at least duplicate what it offers (and their...

How to: Supercharger Removal, Rear Crossover, and Passenger Valve Cover

Excellent cautionary advice in your first paragraph. Would also like to know the miles on your truck now?...and the mileage when you had the front cooling parts done; what had actually failed then, and approximately how much the indy shop charged for that work?? A 2016 here with 23K miles on...

    Fluids change after 9 years?

I'll add to the budget. I get the wisdom of the fluids and lubes, but can't see doing 'spark plugs' until there seems to be an issue? Save those $'s in case one of the coolant pipes starts spewing before 40K? (SMH..LOL).

    Fluids change after 9 years?

"Advisable?" Yes! I have 2016 with 23k miles. I checked the JLR maintenance schedule some time ago for important items that supposedly 'timeout' regardless of mileage. Ten years is certainly a milestone. My thinking is just do it...relatively cheap insurance with these machines: - Change brake...

    2016 LR4 Landmark SCV6 Engine Failure at 65k. WWYD?

I did get a coolant warning while driving a bunch in the desert last summer. Amber triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle along with a message - "coolant level low" or "check coolant level"...don't recall exactly, but sure enough, it was...(there is a sensor).

    2016 LR4 Landmark SCV6 Engine Failure at 65k. WWYD?

Further- from the Manual, pg. 220: "If the oil level is below the required operating range, a message advising you of how much oil to add will be displayed (e.g. Add 1 Pint)". I don't recall seeing that, but I've only added oil a couple of times between changes (perhaps shouldn't have). The...

    2016 LR4 Landmark SCV6 Engine Failure at 65k. WWYD?

Agreed! the electronic gauge/oil level is useless as a 'warning' system. It's only usefulness is to check the oil level and 'top up the oil' which the manual says should be done weekly (I sure haven't been doing that, but will start). You're right, even though there are 8 marks on the scale, it...

    2016 LR4 Landmark SCV6 Engine Failure at 65k. WWYD?

Oof!!! Sorry! Seems like a rare occurrence...if not unprecedented. I am very (selfishly) interested to hear the results of the 'autopsy'. That said, and just spitballing, if it's still in great shape in all other respects (seems like you've indicated that), you still really like it, and it must...

Help to buy LR3 or RR Sport

I have owned both, a 2013 RRS HSE Lux 5.0 NA V8, and a 2006 LR3...but it was a loaded HSE 4.4 300 hp V8. Both great vehicles, but the LR3 was a bit underpowered. I imagine that the old 4.0 L V6 with 216 hp would be even more so. And unless that LR3 is really optioned-up (not sure what all was...

    Highest mileage LR4?

Nope, real deal. Exactly what @CRYA said.

    Highest mileage LR4?

This is on the opposite end of the V8 LR4 mileage spectrum, but worth mentioning because it is EXTREMELY rare. 2013 HSE well equipped; one owner 24k miles; traded to the JLR dealer that originally sold it; clean CARFAX; lived it's entire life in the So. Cal. desert. Just arrived and will not be...

    2013 LR4 Suspension Compressor

One school of thought is that using quality parts (OE or OEM) to begin with, might help to at least minimize that (and the frustrations).

    2005 LR4 Key newbie

What "the GUY" is likely concerned about is that your 2005 (LR3's I think?) anti-theft system includes an 'immobilizer' that may activate if the system senses that the FOB is not legit or may have been tampered with...(ie: the chip gets damaged). That said, I have never heard of that happening...

    Lr4 oil level meter capacity

2016 SCV6 is 16K miles (26k km.), or 1 year, and assumes using the LR designer 'extended performance' oil, or something similar like Castrol Edge 'extended'...likely the same stuff and claims good for 20k . SMH, asking for trouble.

Anyone care to admit this was them? Off the edge of a cliff and recovery from Matt's Offroad Recovery.

OOF! At 25:28 Matt crawled WAY under that thing while it was perched! Maybe it was just the challenge, but the risk/reward on this could be questionable.

    Lr4 Brakes

That looks like a JLR dealer quote and the parts costs seem to reflect that. Last year I did the exact same as @f1racer328 -- Ferodo pads from FCP Euro (OE without the 'genuine LR' stamp on them) and Zimmerman zinc coated rotors provided by my mechanic , on all four corners. We added rotors to...

2015 vs. 2016 LR4's? Head to head battle of the ages.

Fundamentally no difference. They did introduced a 2016.5 Model- 'Landmark Edition' at the end of the run for LR4's. Basically it includes all of the HSE Lux options packaged at a reduced price. I think the only available options that are not included in the 'Landmark' are Heavy Duty Package...

Brake Light Switch - Atlantic British

No experience with this part, but the link you provided appears to be 'aftermarket' and the other one is Genuine LR for about twice the price. Fitments are the same. Same options available over on FCP Euro, same approx pricing. For about $25 more, I'd just do the Genuine part.

    Off-Road and/or Overland Terrain Conditions

If it's only 150 feet and you mentioned that it has some slope to it..it probably drains, unlike that bog you previously landed in. If it's heavily over-grown, I'd walk it a few times looking for obstacles...then go for it!! Can't get into too much trouble in 150 feet. Longterm, there should be...
