p38 starting

2002 RR hse 4.6L
I forgot to put my fuel cap after refueling. I drove about 10 miles on the way home (home was+2 miles) and car just died. I just had the alternator and battery checked. Engine turns over and over and over again. Only thing different is the lost fuel gap. Does my RR require a gas cap to run?- MadProf
