Mike - it sucks. Most terrible job i ever probably had to do. All bolts were rusted, studs were stuck.

I had 2 kits - gaskets , copper studs and nuts, so i was not worried about getting something really damaged, but if you break bloody stud - its nearly impossible to get it out. I am right now driving without one of them on driver side - tried to drill it out, but its way too much right now, so i just left it be there. Sometime in future when i will have enough money i will buy custom tri-y headers (290/side or something like that) and then sort it out. Or may be i will be patient enough to spend there hour digging leftover out.

Biggest scare is to get middle one out from passenger side - its only one that isnt "hole through" so if it breaks - you stuck...

But you guys got newer trucks so you may have better luck there. And when you work there - use LOTS of antisieze and may be replace studs with copper ones so they wouldnt rust like original ones are..

wow... i don't recall any of this from the shop manual, doesn't seem like they should make it this complicated just to change out the filter. BTW serg you were right, northeast had em the cheapest, with british pacific coming in 2nd.

Thanks Sergei. I'll have to check my bolts and see how bad they are. Seems like there's very little room to get any thing in there for leverage.
