Never knew tires actually had this much impact on the ride quality

Thanks for the response! Looks like I found the right guy! Should have been on here before I bought it, but thats not how it ever goes. What if I go down to a 45 so I get 285/45 will that help? Should I get a lift kit? That would be cheaper than new rims no? What can I do with what I have?

Sorry for all the questions. Like I said i'm a noob!

No, 285/45 will be too wide for the wheels - see my post just above. For the least amount of 'squirmy' road handling, you want the narrowest tire that makes sense on the wheel. Unless you have the wider 9-9.5" wheels, 285 is going to suck, period. I did have the wider 'stormer' wheels and even then, the proportion of 285/50x20 was pretty much the limit. Yet, and just keep your head in this, the tire I used later was WAY better in handling at 80-90-100 mph out west. 275/45x20.

same idea can be said for the 18" wheels, 285/60 is crap handling once you realize how stable a more square section is with 265/65x18 or even 275/65.
