Hey guys and gals,

I'm new to the forum and am currently looking into purchasing a 06-07 HSE from the US(I'm from Canada). Has anybody done this? Were there any major stumbling blocks for you? I understand Canada has some different issues (daytime running lights etc). I've spoke with Landrover NorthAmerica and they said warranty will follow the vehicle. Is it a major issue to change the odo to KPH instead of MPH or is it as easy as a push of a button? I'm really looking forward to getting the LR3 I've test driven it a few times and absolutlely love it.

Any advice comments would be greatly appreciated. I have looked at the RIV website and know about the Recall release. I'm coming from Toronto Canada to whatever state I can get the best one I can find.

Thanks again.

The metric/SAE conversion is easy to set, and the daytime running lights is a configuration setting that a dealer can do via the T4 Testbook computer interface. You might need to pay a minor fee for the service, but at the same time, they can check your software and make sure you are up to date. This is something any new buyer should absolutely do.

You'll love the truck, but make sure to invest in some decent tires and check your alignment ASAP!

Thank you very much for the reply. I'm still about a week away from buying it. So hopefully I can get as much research done by then. Any other pertinent questions I should be asking the dealer? I may be going down to the Chicago area to purchase, I've seem to have found a few there. Any other good dealers I should be contacting. I'll pretty much go anywhere to find what I'm looking for. Thanks again guys.!

Make sure your prospective new vehicle has the following service bulletin items performed (or negotiate it into the purchase): the transmission upgrade (software patch), air compressor upgrade (hardware), sunroof drain tubes (replacing pinched tubes), recent, verified tire alignment. Check to make sure that sunroof screens retract smoothly. Ask about brakes, you will need to replace the pads every 15,000 miles or so, and expect to replace the rotors around 30,000 - 40,000 miles, which is not inexpensive.

For hardware, you will want to be sure you have the Cold Climate package, which includes front and rear heated seats, and heated windshield. You will also want the electronic rear differential if you plan on off roading it more than occasionally.

29000 miles on the pads and still running (is that a record?)
I'm turning mine in next week and looking at buying a used one. Make sure you get the vin of anything you're looking for and call a dealership to get the history. I'm finding that most of the good deals are lemon law buy backs and had problems with them. One I'm looking at is a CA lemon law b/c of the traction control fault that has plagued some LR3's. I guess the gamble I take is whether the factory adequately fixed it or will it plague me as well. It amazes me how much Land Rover must be losing because the dealers can't fix certain problems because the lemon law buyback trucks are at least 5grand cheaper.

Well here hopes all goes well. Put a deposit on a 06 HSE, 6400miles. Did the run of the vin number. No problems. Illinois vehicle, one owner. From a dealer. $40500, with A-Frame brush bar and side steps. Gonna pick it up next week. Can't wait. Hopefully that canadian dollar keeps climbing!!

Hey guys, just a couple quick questions again.. I've set the trip and Nav to km's but I can't figure out how to set the odometer. Is that an easy setting or do I have to get a dealer to do it? Anybody have any comments on who gives the best service in the Toronto area for dealers?

Thanks again, here's a pic of my new toy!

I just imported a 2006 LR3 from the US into Canada. Before I flew down I had the dealer in Portland OR switch my Daytime Run Lights on and change everything from Miles to KMs......or so I thought. I picked up the vehicle and took a glance at the trip odometer....sure enough KMs and the lights were on daytime run mode. Half way back to Vancouver, BC I looked at the actual odometer and realized it still said "miles". I freaked out and made an appointment before the border in Lynwood and the Dealer was good enough to fit me in on short notice....long story short.....turns out that the dealer cannot or won't switch the Odometer, they took it into the shop and then came back a half hour later acting strange and saying it could not be done without a new module. Land Rover here in Canada said it is considered Odometer tampering and will void warranty so not to touch it. This is very strange as an Audi I imported was switched over and warranty is fine. Very mysterious but regardless it is fine for licensing and all the other computer readouts can be changed to KMs with user settings.

Sklaz, I am looking to do some cross border shopping myself. We are interested in a 2005 LR3. Can you tell me how much the duty and other charges were when you crossed the border?
