Trevor, you might inquire about a new hybrid model that Rover Specialties is starting to make. It's the Option 2-Slim. It is a narrower version of the LR3 slider, it projects out about 1.125" less than the standard. It aligns with the outside of the stock aluminum LR3 rim.

Order it as: LR3opt2slim.

That sounds like the answer there. I will call them on Monday and see if I can't order them. Is there anybody in particular there that is best to talk to? Thanks for the info.

I was just looking at them again today, and they seem to line up exactly with the width of the tires. The way the door panel bows out a little, they also seem to line up with the widest part of the door.

BTW - Adam, feel free to use my pictures on your web site ... no charge.
(After all, you've already got several others of mine on there.)

That's correct. Here is an old photo of my prototype units from a couple years ago. Before they were available for purchase!

Nathan,

Thanks for putting me in touch with Adam. He had lots of good things to say about you. Anyway, I just ordered the standard option 2 (adam thought they would offer better protection and work better with a High Lift jack) and can't wait to get them in and install them. Are they pretty self explanatory on how to install them or do you have any tips I should know about. Again, thanks for the help. Oh yeah, I also ordered the air compressor relocate bracket.

Hey Trevor, congrats! Install is pretty straightforward, and they come with decent printed instructions. Here is a link to some install photos I took recently. I have done this in the driveway using a rolling floor jack and a block of 2x4, but I confess it was easier using the shop at Inland Rovers :)

Nathan,

Thanks for the link. I have a shop and a bunch of forklifts. Do you think that a guy could use a forklift to raise the sliders into place or would it be easier to use a floor jack? I also have a forklift that could pick up the whole truck, maybe I should have my welders make some platforms that fit on the forks and then drive the truck onto the forks and just lift the truck up to working height. Then I could put some jackstands under the forks to keep it from falling and crushing me if a hose blew. Make my own homemade lift! Would that make it easier or should I just do it on the floor with a jack?

Does anyone know if with the air compressor relocate kit if I will have to remove the silencer cover for the air compressor when installing the rock sliders? I would like to leave it on if possible.

Nope, have to take it off.

With the stock mount and the sliders you have to leave off the lower cover. From my discussion with Hi-Country with the raised bracket you have to leave the top cover off.

If that leaves enough room for the lower cover and the sliders I do not know but still you will be at least missing half of the cover either way.
