Electrical Issues... because of course

It's my first foray into the LR world, and I've come up against electrical issue. There seems to be shoddy connection or short between starter and battery in my 2005 LR3. It starts within 3 seconds of hooking up jumper cables... but randomly won't start (and clicks like a dead battery). Electronics inside, lights, etc. all light up brightly... Any advice or common things to look at? Any advice for a newbie?

If it starts with a jump and only clicks otherwise, how is this NOT a battery issue? How old is your current battery?

Battery is fairly new... I didn't think it was the battery because it starts up a few hours later, without a jump. My drive to the office is about 5 min, and I don't think that would charge the battery enough for me to start up without any issue or delay 4 hours later.

I think electrics or fuse because there are other sensors tripped that MUST be electrical issues - like a constant "bonnet open" waring on the dash, despite the hood being securely closed. There's also the added wrinkle of randomly my remote will go for a week or two doing one of two things: locking the doors without a horn-honk/arming the alarm OR arming the alarm with a horn-honk but not locking the doors.

The "BONNET OPEN" message and horn-honk v no horn honk are related. Do a search and figure that one out. If the LR3 senses the bonnet open it will honk the horn instead of arming the alarm.

I'd try to find a way to read your non-charging battery voltage. I've had a new'ish battery get kinda flat in the past (was dipping below 12V and giving me BS messages upon startup).

clicking ignition, even though the batter maybe newer have it load tested. A simple bad cell like I had can cause this. A bad battery can cause all sorts of faults, transmission faults are consistently caused by this. I had my door sensors replaced alarm would go off constantly for no reason, there is also a bonnet sensor.

A loose battery connector also causes bad things to happen

Tested the battery, and it's in great shape - fairly new. Non-charging voltage is fine, load test was great. The gremlins live, apparently...

Old thread, but check that it's grounded ok. Clamp a jumper cable from the battery to the terminal where the negative ground leads to.

This had me going mental a while back.
