My friend is looking at a 2005 LR3.

I love my 04 discovery, and my 10 LR4, but i know nothing about the LR3.

What should be be looking for as far as issues on this model?

The car has 65,000miles SE trim and asking $17k private dealer.

Anyhelp would be appreciated

Seems like a good price. If you're already a Rover owner, you'll love the LR3. Just make sure the air suspension works right and no clunks or anything like that when you drive it. Just regular Rover stuff.

Tell your friend to spend $3000-$4000 more and get an 07 or newer. or, negotiate lower than $17k.

Personally, unless a person "needs" all the extra technology in the lr3, the Disco 2 has more character and in some ways is more fun to use.

Well you own both so I suppose no one is more qualified to say that... But I've also heard the '04 Disco bombs on the other years.

Im not sure either. We have a 2004 Disocvery II SE which I love. Zero issues except for minor stuff (window actuator, sunroof bolts which were because of the audio system installed in it). The 2010 LR4 is a "new" to me edition and so far I love it. He has a F150 Platinum but wants to sell it and have some money to build something else. He still needs something which is capable of towing a 7000lbs boat short distances (from driveway to boat ramp on property). He still likes the plush features of his Platinum, which is one reason the LR3 came in over a Discovery. He could have bought mine for $9k with 56,000 miles on it but the interior of a Discovery leaves a lot of be desired from new cars.

2004 "bombs on" other years means that it is much better than the other Discos...
