The Discovery windshields have been known to leak. Water can get into the audio amplifier and short out.
There is a recall out for certain VIN #s, to reseal the windshield.


You can push outwards along the top of the windshield. If you see any movement, the windshield needs to be resealed.

I'm thinking it may be the plastic around the entertainment screen shifting. Maybe the humidity and large temp changes are making the noises extra loud in the quiet cabin. Right now that would be a best case scenario.
