I can't tell you how excited I am to go offroading again. (Anyone in Southern/Central Ontario should come out May 7th for a run :) )

One gremlin I'd like to track down is play in my steering wheel. I don't think it's an issue with the actual suspension or tie rods, but it's more u joint/clockspring related. I get about 5mm of movement that's loose at the wheel before it connects to actual steering input. No vibrations at high speed or anything, I can wiggle it side to side 5mm with no effect on steering.

Also, I have an SRS light on for ever, which may be related. Haven't had time to read that code yet.

Any thoughts?

I'll probably replace the u joint anyway, why not.

There is a U Joint at the bottom of the steering column that gets dried out...makes the steering feel "chunky" as you turn the wheel. Like there is a pocket of play in part of the rotational range.

That's what I think too, my Dodge did the same.

The play was less than a mm when I swapped it but what a difference.
