Is anyone else having issues with the rubber side cover detaching off their key? I am going to stop by the dealer and see if it would be covered under warrentee but figured I would check with the group and see if anyone else is having the same issue. I should probably also mention that this the only issue that I have had with my LR4 so far (2011 Lux w/ 22K miles) so it is pretty minor in the overall scheme of things.

I have a 2011 LR4 as well and my key has no issues - it's practically new.

Keep us posted.

I think they started using the plastic key with chrome in 2012 and onward?

The 2010 and 2011 models have this big heavy hard rubber key.

Correct. The key became substantially smaller in 2012. I had to buy a replacement a few months ago and the dealer told me that unfortunately the smaller 2012 key is not compatible with 2011.

Isn't the rubber one water proof?

Mine is perfect and I treat it like an ex-wife.
Hahaha! :)

I actually like the 2010-2011 key fobs, they feel so much more heavy duty than the 2012-2013 key fobs, which feel rather cheap. I had a 2012 as a loaner and I was disappointed with the plastic and chrome cheap feel.

The worst Land Rover key fob is a 2011 LR2 - wow, it's horrible.

I stopped at the dealer today and the service manager is checking with the regional manger to see if it is covered under warranty.
