sounds like the spring mechanism has broken, or there is some serious build up of pocket lint and crud built up in the hinge. I advise checking to see if there is something blocking the operation of the key, or resort to the spare key and keep this as the spare. if you are still under warranty and the spring is broken your dealer may be able to get you a new one otherwise they are pretty expensive for a replacement key. My dealer replaced both my key's when one of my remote batteries went bad and wouldn't accept a charge. (fortunately under warranty)
