new to land rovers, from canada eh

hello all, my name is Danny, i am from London Ontario, just picked up my first land rover. It is a 1999 discovery1, has some issues, but for $300, i wasnt expecting a daily

i have temp plates on it, headlights are not working (one was full of water, so likely has to do with that)

has an idle of 1200 area, has a hard time starting and stay running in the mornings, but once it has started, it will run and start all day...

and now for the funny one, when i turn the engine off, the service engine light comes on and stays on till i start it again. the actual engine runs fairly well for being 18 years old

any advice would be great!

Welcome to the forum... sounds like some fun electrical issues. Headlights could also be a switch or fuse.

RPM could be just fuel pressure related or just needing a tune up.

Not starting could be Tune Up?

$300 is a good deal as long as you don't spend too much getting it running.

thanks, will be a fun project, i drove it 2 hours to get it home, ran fairly well. i am used to the british electronics, had 3 minis...
