This is a silly question, but can anyone recomend oil specs for a 96 4.6 HSE RR?
Filter? Type of oil, amount of oil? Synthetic vs. Normal... ?
I live in Utah and it will probably be cold till early March.

Depends more on preference then anything...

My 97 Disco with the 4.0 I use Synthetic. 5w30 year round. filter I use a K&N 4002 IIRC the people at Advance Auto acually new what filter fit my Rover wooo hooo. 1 point for them... 2 points when you concider they acually carry the S-Belt in stock.

amount Mine takes 6.5 quarts with a filter change.

Your 4.6 is basically the same engine.

5w30 regular oil works just as fine in the winter. I have a disco and it works fine.

the filter can be purchased anywhere its not too expensive around five bucks.

I have used year around Motul 5/40 synthetic oil with very good results, in most of my cars!! but You can use any American oil Texaco 10/40 or Mobil 1etc…. most oils today have the same quality specification iso , so use the brand that you prefer , Joey is right on one thing ,use from 10/40 or 15/50 if possible all year around is the best protection you can get .
