I posted on these forums a while ago (like three years) asking questions about purchasing a Land Rover, and because of your suggestions towards maintenance costs I refrained. Well, I've gotten rid of my previous car and am looking to buy one again. I just visited a 2003 Disco II ... The biggest issue would probably be the cracked windshield - I'm aware they can get expensive to fix. Aside from that, it was mostly cosmetic issues which were far and few.
When I drove it, it ran fine. It almost felt as if first and second gear shifted very fast and then it was in third gear for a long while, but we were going around 50 miles an hour. It shifted smoothly and I heard no knocking or clicks at all.
The only potential issue with the car was when I would release the accelerator and then press it again, there was a very small 'jump' of sorts and I heard a noise from the front end of the car, almost like a click as it shifts into gear or gives gas again. Is it something I should be worried about?
The check engine light was on but I'm going to bring a code reader next time I visit, because I have reason to believe it's not a very large issue.
What are your thoughts? Next time I visit what should I look out for?
Thank you!!!
