I had a rodio that would not accept the code for months and I finally got the thing to work. I was getting the code based on the vin # and it would not work. I then pulled the radio out and got the code based on the serial number which gave me hope because it was different but still nothing. Each time I tried a new code I did all the right things I waited 2 hours, disconnected the battery, blah, blah, blah, nothing.

Then I pulled the radio all the way out and unplugged it from the dash in hopes of having it repaired. The next day I put it back in and tried the code from the serial number and BINGO it worked! It has gone off several times since then from dead battery and always accepted the code since. I do not know why it worked this way but if you are in radio code hell try it or something like it.

You will need a small allen wrench to remove the radio from your Discovery I.
