Rear door frame rust - driver/passenger sides

Hello!

Has anyone else ran into door frame rust ? On my 2010 LR4 HSE there is rust on the driver side and passenger side rear door frames. I haven't taken off the bottom trim to see if it's coming in from there or if it's from another source. Looks like on the trim and maybe doesn't dry out. I live in BC ,western Canada and must be rain related lol.

I would be very nervous about what that bottom trim piece hides underneath it.

Agreed, mud stuck in that trim area can be bad news, I don't recall the particular corrosion mechanism (there are three if I recall) but I believe standing mud can cause galvanic corrosion hence keeping these areas clean and sealed is important.

Out of curiosity, is there rust anywhere else like on the undercarriage?

It's 14 years old. If it is from a salt dumping state or province then corrosion sucks but not surprising.

It was originally from Tennessee and has lived its life in BC Canada for the last 8 years. I am the second owner but never thought to pay attention to that area.

Yeah strange. BC is a big place. Do they salt the roads in your neck of the woods?

It's actually not that bad. Little surface rust spots here and there.

It is pretty big - Yes they do salt the roads and also use a brine spray before it snows.
