Wow, that makes a lot of sense. Money is tighter so charge MORE for the same parts. Sigh.

I don't know when the original quote was, but I can tell you that LRNA has been posting price changes about every 2 months. Along with that they have been been revamping the MSRP's back and forth. Most of this has to do with issues further up the coporate ladder, supplier costs, the strength of various currencies. All and all I don't know of a single dealer who is happy about it. At the least, I always try to match or get in the ballpark of a price I quoted if it in the recent past.
I was really thrilled when I quoted an engine one month and the next it had nearly doubled. The NEED is very different for an engine vs. an accessory, so it was quite a party. If that is what it costs me to bring it in, that's what it is, and I don't work for free, just like everyone else. We came to a sensible conclusion, but it wasn't fun.

I forgot to add: If you need something, shop for it, or just ASK for the old price. In slow times people are more likely to deal. There are 254 dealers out there. One of them is going to be willing to cut you a break because due to the slow-down he has way to much stock.

But the hitch mounted bike rack went down in price!!!! I wonder if LR saw gas prices sky rocketing last year, figured more people would be biking and bought up an enormous supply of bike racks. Then gas prices dropped and no one cared about the environment or health and said to hell with biking. So now LR is left with a surplus of bike racks and they are trying to unload them.

Seems like everyone is going up. I checked atlantic british just a couple of months ago for brakes and rotors, but my local mechanic said I was ok for a while longer. Just check pricing-- ouch!
