The cost is within 200 bucks
which way would you go
18" rims with 275/65/18 mt
or
19" rims 255/55/19 mt

will be running on the trail not daily.
what would you choose.

I would chose the 18''.

The extra sideway should give you a cushier ride and more ground clearance.

As has been mentioned on several other threads, expect to get some rubbing if you go over 31.5" total diameter. The 275/65/18 will put you over 32". I know people who have that size on their LR3's and do fine. Just be aware of it. I agree with going to an 18" wheel to get more sidwall. But 285/60/18 is a more prevalent size out there in the all terrains (Nittos, Coopers, etc) and stays just below the 31.5" size. But if you want a knobbier (sp?) mud terrain you don't have as many choices. Good luck!

I have the modifies height sensor rods so the rubbing should be taken care of with that.
But I will have to run the rods to run the tires where with the 19" MT I can run w/o the rod if I am fealing to lazy to swap out the rods.

I'd go with the 18s too just for the extra inch of ground clearance and for the larger tire footprint. You have the sensor mod so no sweat on the wheel well rubbing.

A bit OT but I am curious about the spare for those of you running on 265/65/18s or 275/65/18s. Do they fit in the spare wheel well? Or are you carrying the spare on a roof rack when wheeling? I can barely fit a nearly deflated 285/60/18 under there, but I have a RRS and am not sure whether clearances in the spare well are the same on an LR3. Thanks.

Hey Umberto - Happy New Year to you!
No, the spare wheel well on the LR3 is the same size as on my old Sport. I can barely get my 285/60/18 Cooper Zeon LTZ in there deflated as well. But thanks to Paul, I can now get the trailer hitch in place with the spare there as well, at least.
We need to get out there again soon. Take care.

Hey Scott, I was almost going to go back to Nightmare Gulch with Nathan and SCLR this weekend, but something came up. I did that trail not long ago but would love to do it again, unfortunately I may no longer get that chance if rumors of permanent closure to OHV turn out to be true. So now I am shooting for Anza Borrego in February 21-22, yet another SCLR organized run. Never been there! Hope to see you soon as well. :hello:

Sorry, definitely OT now.
