Working under front end of my Discovery1, 97 I suddenly found a piece of rubber
attached to the same bracket as steering damper on front main gearbox. Looks like some kind of massive rubber part was broken and what I found is what left of it. I am a first owner, and car has never been modified so that must be original OEM part but it is not listed in any catalog and not mentioned in manuals. I think this is an important part because if it is broken it has been experienced some stress or overload and absence of it may affect safety driving

If I recall correctly this large rubber part was basically a vibration damper. More like added weight that really serves no purpose.

I removed mine while off roading one day and never even noticed it was gone.
