Hi all, unfortunately today the driver in front of me stopped abruptly to make a left far past an intersection. I reacted to slow and rear ended them.

My questions and concerns are now what to do next.

I am moving cross country to Dallas, TX next week and the car was towed here in Stamford, CT. Will insurance repair my car here or can I have it brought to TX? If they repair it here, will I have to come here to pick it up?

Also if anyone has any experience, please tell me what you think the repairs on the car look like they'll cost. Sorry I didn't get any good photos. Car was definitely leaking a lot of fluids, it gave the low coolant warning as well. Doors opened but scraped on the front fenders. Hopefully won't be totaled.

LR is a 2016 with 79k on it.

Ouch. Did the air bags trigger? I would say that is $15k damage if NO mechanicals were affected and bags did not trigger. If they did and there is serious mechanical work it is likely gone. What is the est value of a 2016?

This will give you an idea on Land Rover part costs...

Yeah, the steering wheel airbag did deploy.

Mechanicals I'm not too sure but the engine cut off after the impact and I didn't try anything afterwards.

That is one expensive hood, I was afraid of just that. My 2016 probably values at $28k but in today's market I won't be able to get into a similar LR4 for under $38k near me.

It was Canadian. It's hard to find a company that wants to do $28k of body work. Easier to just write it off. Did it have the two speed transfer case?

It didn't have HD package. If it turns out to be a loss I may try to hunt one down with it, but they are just too rare.

I had the tire carrier, CB and stuff like naviplus I'm hoping I can take off of my LR4.

Just cancelled my order to replace the running boards with sliders.

I have a 2015 HSE LUX with 67800 mi. that I am thinking of selling. It has the HD package, trailer tow package, cold climate package, seven seats, Casway Gray, 19 in. wheels, it needs a new battery for the stop/start. PM me if you are interested, I live in Cleveland, Ohio. It was in an accident back in Feb. 2016 and all items that were damaged were replaced new. I can e-mail you pictures and the paperwork from the addicent repaire.

Thanks, hopefully I'll know back from the insurance in a week or so to know what to do.

I had what looked to be a similar level of damage in an accident in my 2012 a couple years ago and my insurance determined it to be a total loss. However, before accepting their decision, I paid the shop out of pocket to do a little disassembly to fully determine the level of damage. I opted to fix the truck and accept the salvage title. I'm really glad I went this route, but it wasn't a rational/economical decision...
