very little sound from radio

I have a 97 discovery sd
it dose have the 6 disk changer but the first problem i need to address is that when i turn on the radio and turn it all the way up there is only a little muffled sound comming from the far back speakers.
it sounds like the station is comming in but the volume is almost nothing.
I pulled the radio, all connections seem to be good, I think i found the amp, just forward of the passangers front door, pulled the fuser on that all is good. the cd changer has power but that is all i can tell at this point.
anybody have any ideas?

Have you checked the speakers? Ohmeter should register somewhere between 3.5 and 8 ohms I would think or simpley take one that is not working and try it on a stereo or sound generator.
