Removed the top cover to the engine on the 16’ LR4 with the SCV6 and noticed the grey cylinder and what I assume is a filter? Trying to also figure out why it says Fomoco on the top of it, as in Ford Motor Company?

That's your oil filter.

Engines for the LR4 were made under contract by a Ford plant in the UK.

Ford was Land Rover's **** for awhile. We have been passed around. Leyland, Honda (sort of), BMW, Ford, Tata. I bet the next master will be Chinese.

I recommend you get to know that part well, as in removing it every 5000-7500 miles. Search YouTube for “Umberto LR4 oil change” and do your LR4 and your wallet a solid.
