2011 LR4 normal engine sound?
Yeah I’ll try that, seems like a doable diagnosis. It really only slaps for a quick second on start. Then quiets. I’ll report back on the results of the “pick” test. Thanks everyone. -

2011 LR4 normal engine sound?
Yeah it’s really hard to tell if my truck needs another timing chain job or if it’s nothing…. All I can say is that I did an idle comparison with a 2013 LR4 and my truck sounded like a diesel the other like a smooth running engine. Not sure why. Stumped. -

I should add that other than the constant clatter sound the truck idles smooth and drives smooth. No dash lights or an indication that the engine is not well. -

Thanks! My concern is on start up. I hear a clatter sound almost like my TC or something like that. Then once in idle I hear a very diesel esq slap, slap, repeat… I listened to another friends 2013 LR4 V8 and heard nothing of the such. His starts and idles/ sounds like a normal humming engine... -

LR4 poor idle with AC in drive
So the issue has been resolved. It was the fuel injector seals that was causing the issue. After replacing the fuel injectors with new Bosch injectors the truck runs great. Thanks everyone! -

Ok, so the truck went to a very reputable indy Land Rover only shop in South Eastern PA. The report back was that the issue is the fuel injector seals. This makes sense as I have confirmation that a not so good shop did the seals when the timing chain was done. I’m assuming that the seals are... -

I very sorry to hear this. I also called about this truck. It was listed in NY Craigslist. 16k for a salvage 2021 Defender. Spoke with a guy who said his name was George. @greiswig thanks for the suggestion. I believe it’s the action of moving, higher rpms, to slowing, low/ idle, that makes this happen. Just simply driving for a bit then coming to a stop. Parking brake on or off would not make a difference. Now sitting idle from start, turning ac on and just... -
